If you want an easy recipe, here's the best I can offer, though it is a bit plain.

Wheat Bread, Lettuce, Tomato, sausage, and cheese.

Just toast the bread (You can spread mayo if you want.)
One leaf of lettuce, one tomato slice.
Use ground sausage, (usually comes in a tube of some sort)
Sqeeze out the desired amount of sausage and press into a thin patty. (The thinner it is the quicker it cooks.)
Cook the patty, lay a slice of your favorite cheese on top of the sausage to melt a little.
Place on bread.

It's a great sandwich and you can change out the meat as you'd like.

You could use ham slices, or make tuna salad with apple chunks instead of relish.
You could also trade up the bread for a bagel once in a while. I've tried the sausage and cheese on a blueberry bagel once, and it was surprisingly good.

It's kind of basic, but if you keep sliced tomatoes in a container and already have a head of lettuce, there is almost no work involved in making it. Plus it's surprisingly filling with a glass of milk or orange juice.

It should stick with you for a little longer than a bowl of cereal or some other sugar based item.

Here is what worked for my mom, and several other people in her circle.
1. no stary fruit or vegetables, as in: potatoes, corn, bananas
2. You can have beans as a protein, but they are not a complete
protein, add
cheese. 1 cup of beans is 1 serving. 1 cup of chili is a serving of
protein.
3. If you have yogurt, it must be plain, add your own fruit.
4. 1 serving of fruit is 1 fruit, apple, orange, etc. 1/2 a cant or 1/2
honey
dew is a serving of fruit. Also, 1 cup of juice is a serving.
5. 1 cup of milk is a serving of protein.
6. For your lunch, you can steal part of your dinner dressing for your
salad.
I use 1/2 tablespoon on my lunch salad, and 1 1/2 tablespoons on my
dinner
salad.
7. If you decide to have 3 pieces of raw vegetables, you can have 3
pieces of
any size. Cutting the tops off carrots makes it one piece.

Breakfast:
1 serving of protein, 1 serving of fruit.

Lunch:
1 serving of protein, 1 cup of cooked vegetables, 1 cup of salad, or 3
pieces
of raw vegetables.

Dinner:
1 serving of protein, 1 cup of cooked vegetables, 2 cups of salad, 2
tablespoons of dressing.
