You might be better off staying in your own counrty. The rest of the world hates this counrty and are trying dsperately to ruin it with terrorist acts, illegal immigration, drugs, etc. Go somewhere else. It will be safer and you will be welcome.

each visa type is different. Some require a period of time in the States longer than 3 months. Some will void you after 90 days outside of the States. So go to the source. The site above is the immigration site. Find your visa type and follow the FAQ.

Let's clarify this.
You have an immigrant visa for the States (US). So that means you're a citizen of the US? If that were the case, I don't think you can hang around the Philippines for more than 5 months since that would require a working visa (in Philipines)?

Ananke does NOT have the right answer. And of course you are not a citizen yet, as someone else implied. Here is the information you need about being an immigrant and how long you can stay outside the US without losing your status. You are expected to live in the US:

if you have a green card, then dognhorsemom is right, check out
http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/citizenship/rights.htm#Maintaining%20Your%20LPR%20Status
you can enter and leave the country as you leave w/ a green card, but avoid staying out too long, if you must stay outside of the use for a yr or so, get a re entry permit before you leave.... you can get into some trouble if you leave for too long....
there is not required time to stay here, just don't stay out too long

You are allowed up to 90 days or as little as one day, one time without leaving. Leaving voids your visa.
