I have two young cats. One with long hair and one with short hair. I've used Fresh Steps for the past year, but it seems the crystals end up outside the box, even after purchasing a box that's shaped like an igloo that has the steps inside...thinking the litter would at least come off on the steps, inside the box, but that's not the case.

Anyone out there who has fixed this problem? I'm ready to try something else, like Arm & Hammer.

Thanks in advance for your answers. :)

I highly recomend the arm and hammer clumping cat litter. I have 5 cats and have tried just about every cat litter on the market. This is the one that I have found works the best. And they tend to track this brand less out of the litter box. Try it I'm sure you will find this is what your looking for.

I have 5 cats and use Fresh Step Cedar. I have 3 litter boxes that get cleaned every 2-3 days, and have NO problem with odor.
It does track though. I've been through a ton of different kinds, and they ALL track. I just buy those large (cheap) kitchen rugs and put them under the box at the entrance, and sweep them when I clean the boxes. Some litter still gets on the floor though. Occupational hazard of having cats, I guess.

I've had at least one cat throughout my entire life. My Mom and now me have tried just about every litter on the market. To be honest, I've found they all work about the same. But a friend said she used Arm and Hammer Litter odor control. It's a powder you shake on the litter. She loved it. In truth, it's just baking soda labeled as "pet odor control." So now we use Special Kitty (the Walmart brand) Litter and Walmart baking soda sprinkled lightly on when the box is changed-twice a week. We also have a Renuzit (the cone shaped kind) Super Odor Killer air freshener near the box. To combat "litter tracks," use newspaper around the box or get a trapping mat. Try Dr. Fosters and Smiths.

Hi i use only the clumping cat litter, i dont think that it matters what kind you use and i find that now matter what i do that cats will always bring some out with them! it get stuck to there feet . so i really am not sure that there is a fix to this , i put an old rug outside the box so when they come out it will catch what is on there feet and that seem to work the only place that i have it on the floor is in the laundry rm where the box is, ,,goood luck

We like a low-odor cat litter that isn't perfumey. Some of the perfumes in litter are very obnoxious to both the cats & the people.

We use Pet Gold (from Petco) where you can do refills which is nice. We also will buy Arm & Hammer from time to time if we can't get to a PetCo.

It isn't the litter, its the cats...

little bits are getting stuck in your katz kat feets -

I would recommend getting a door mat or a bathroom rug, to be put at the entry of the litter box. Your cats may not realize they're tracking litter out of the the poop box. Then on the other hand, they don't wash thier paws after using the poop box,... Like you do. They don't flush, they bury their poopage.

The Mat/Rug ought to remove most of what gets stuck to their little feets. Because most cats don't use the steps they like to gingerly step into the litter box and when they exit, tend to either casually step out, shoot out like they just cracked a fart (usually the case) or just hop out,... novel lltter boxes with little details like steps normally are missed by the Feline Sensibilities. Watch how your cat uses the poop-house.
My cats Poop House, has a large bathrug in front of it, because I loathe stepping on those grains with my bare feet. And my cat also tracks litter grains out of his poopbox with his furry feets.

Just remember to shake it out twice a month, or it will just get caked with the stuff.

Good luck & take care
Mahalo!!

I would buy the kind that forms clumps when the cats uses it. That is the easiest and make sure you clean out the clumps just as soon as the cat uses the litter.

Use the regular clay type litter, clumping litter can be inhaled by cats as it exists in a fine powder form as well.. very nasty for the cat.
