I like media player 10 at home but only run Windows 2000 at work.
Is there anyway to get media player 10 to download, install and run on Windows 2000?
These OS's are not that much different.
I have a good idea that it's just another con from Microsoft to get you to update and pay them more money.

I know it is only for XP but is there any crack or work around. As I've had other software that is only XP but with a crack it ran on 2000.

No way. The Windows Media Player 10 has been built specifially for Windows XP and uses libraries specific to the XP operating sytem. So currently there is no way to run WMP10 on a Win2k machine. U need to wait until microsoft comes up with a version of WMP10 for Windows 2000 and i don't think it will!

AS far as i know the media Player 10 was built for XP so it will not work on any previous version untill such a time when microsoft makes it compatible with previos versions

It may be worth a try though

Does your computer meet these requrements (besides the XP part):

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/10/readme.aspx#System

then try it:

No way. You can not do it unless you have Windows XP. Media Player 10 is built for that. You can not run it on Win9x or Win2K OS
