I guess this one would be unethical to actually test out for real. It is widely known that alcohol dehydrates you - but that is in larger quantities than a single pint and it is worth noting that beer was produced first by the egyptians - in the desert!! Some experiments have shown that Europeans are not allergic to beer but a significant number of Asians are - this is because of natural selection - making tea purified water in the east and brewing beer purified water in the west and so the ability to tolerate alcohol was crucial for survival. Therefore the logical answer has to be that the man who drinks the beer has to last longer because he is taking in purified water and the small alcoholic content will have a negligable affect (so long as not allergic hahaha).

The one who drinks nothing. The man who drinks the beer will dehydrate because of the alcohol in the beer.

I have no Idea... This is tough to decide.. cuz beer/alcohol will dehydrate you worse if your already dehydrated...especially in the heat!
However, beer does have protein, sugars, calories, That might help with getting some energy back...
Having nothing I think would be worse than having a beer.... I know if I were that thirsty ... a beer would be great & I don't like beer...(just whiskey)...
I don't know though..
I'm leaning towards the guy who has nothing.. cuz he is not further dehydrating him self with the alcohol in the beer.

Depends entirely on the brand of beer. You often hear drinkers say of a particular brew that, "That's p**s!" and I believe drinking p**s is a recommended way of conserving body fluid in such situations. Again many pubs in Britain used to show a small notice which said, "Every pint in this pub has been passed by the landlord!" so again it's p**s. On balance, therefore, I'm going for the man who drank the beer. He knew it was p**s.

The man who drinks the beer, as its weaker than other alcoholic drinks, and he'd last longer.

In fact, he'd only enjoy it if it was nice and cold.

Poor guy who drinks nothing. Give him a beer too, before he attacks the other for not sharing.

Come on, its your imagination...

Alright I'll do it.

To the guy with no beer "And would you like ice with that, maybe a paper umbrella or funny parrot...?"

Die happy.

Alcohol dries you up, which is the reason why you don't drink any during a fire, so, I'm inclined to believe it's the one who doesn't drink who will last the longest. (But it's possible it might not make much of a difference anyway since people can die of dehydration within hours.)

It's impossible to know. While alcohol would dehydrate there are many other variables such as age, present state of dehydration, fitness, mental state that would all play a factor.

If it was a mater of life and death - Drink the beer, and as gross as it sounds - drink your urine. That would be your best chance.

the man who drinks the beer could last longer by drinking his urine after his body has absorbed the alcohol, thus partially rehydrating himself. the other guy could do this as well, but i am sure the thought of having had a beer would improve his state of mind and thus survive.

The one who drinks the beer. Because even though alcohol does dehydrate, the amount of alcohol in beer is far far too low to conteract all the water in it. He also wouldn't have to pee so quickly after just one beer.
