They belong the the Sporting Group which includes Pointers, Setters, Spaniels and Retreivers. The Sporting Group is composed of dogs that are bred to hunt. Pointers assist hunters by identifying quarry and going "on point" to indicate the quarry's location. Spaniels "flag" their tails when they spot game and will flush the birds out for the hunter.
