About Blue House Antiques
This business, owned and operated by Bob & Agnes Charlton, was established in February 1987. Our aim is to provide high quality antiques to our clients at reasonable prices.

It is our philosophy that none of us really own antiques, but rather are only temporary custodians. We are each responsible for the safety and preservation of the pieces while they are in our posession. Price is a reflection of the relative importance of the item in question with higher prices being attached to things of greater historical significance. Never the less, we also believe that responsibility should be taken not only by the financially privilaged, but by a wide spectrum of society, and prices should not be an undue impediment to those who take a serious interest in our heritage. It is with this in mind that we endeavour to provide the highest quality of antiques for fair prices.





What we sell
We carry a varied range of Canadian Country Furniture in: original finish, as found and refinished condition. When furniture must be refinished, we take care to do only what is required to make the piece serviceable and esthetically pleasing.

We always have a number of rope beds (ca 1820-1890) in as found condition and restored (converted to full double and queen sizes).

You will also find one of the largest selections of medicine cabinets and hanging cupboards in Ontario.

Additionally, we offer a good selection of decorating smalls including: quilts, hooked rugs, wall shelves, baskets, stoneware, lamps and more.

With the exception of a very limited number of hand crafted items which are well identified as replicas, reproductions have no place in this business. Our customers shop with confidence that they are purchasing genuine antiques and that we stand behind every sale.

Custom refinishing is also available for you furniture. We treat it as if we had inherited if from Grandma !

HOURS OF BUSINESS

We are open by chance or appointment but we are open most days from 10AM to 5PM. A call ahead is recommended to avoid dissapointment.

CLIENT WANT LISTS

If you are looking for something specicific, contact us with your request and we will try to find and supply it to you. If we don't have it, we can sometimes direct you to some other shop that does. This is a free service and you are under no obligation to purchase if the item we find does not meet your expectations.




How To Contact Us
Blue House Antiques is located approximatly one hour north of Pearson International Airport. Just take the Toronto Airport Road north and keep going straight until you see our sign.

If you head north by way of Highway 400, exit at Bayfield Street in Barrie (that's Hwy#27). Follow it to the junction of Hwys 27 & 26. Turn left on Hwy #26 and stay on Hwy #26 until you see our sign.

You can't miss us...just look for the "Blue House" !
