i have freeview and a satellite receiver connected via scart and the sound is fine, but the dvd player connected via the audio output on the tv has really poor sound quality , its very low. the dvd player has no scart. what can i do to get a better sound quality?

Hi there.
Firstly, make sure the volume on your dvd player is set to maximum. It probably is already though. Secondly, go to the setup function on your dvd player. On the audio section, set the output to downmix. This will stop only the front left and left channels of a 5.1 system being sent (in effect 5.1 is six speakers, and unless you specifically tell it to, you're only getting two of them). Hope this helps.

yet another chance is that your DVD participant taking section in audio at 5.a million channels (maximum new videos are like this) and also you basically have 2 channels on your television set. attempt replacing the audio output settings to 2 channels stereo on your DVD participant once you're observing a movie.

Sorry to piggyback on someone elses answer but the "downmix" solution is the correct one, it may also be called "Record Mode"
it will be in the setup menu of your dvd player, and it may not let you acess this whilst there is a dvd in the tray.

We had the same problem until i went into menu (TV ) and pressed on a stupid button, something to do with sound and it's OK now but i'm damned if i can tell you which button it was. i had checked out everything on teh dvd, was getting nowhere!

yep. on 2 of my dvds u just use ur tv sound. but on the cheapy one from comet we have to turn it up on the DVD too.

check ur remote

vol - and + i think lol

pls check your remote control you we see volume control for the dvd player use it to increase and decrease the sound .

we had the same problem until we got a surround sound system, its brilliant now.

i think the problem is with your tv.... it might be a little old one.....so some stuffs wont work properly ........else........the audio port is damaged.......well thats all i can think of......
