We adopted two apx. 8 week old kittens from our local SPCA on 8/21. They were dewormed on 8/20. On the first night they both ate fine, but later that evening, one of them vomited her food back. The vomit seemed fine, just what she had ate. The next day, she refused all food but was drinking plenty of water. Her stools were normal and free of worms. Also she was active and quite playful . Late on the third day she finally ate, but again vomited later. Again it seemed to be just the food. She's still active, and her eyes and nose are clear, and her stool are normal. What would be causing this? Could it be from the deworming?

I've had the same problem with my cat. She seems to have a sensitive stomach. Due to her age I have to feed her canned food. I have only found one brand that she can eat and keep down. I have noticed one particular flavor that is too rich for her tummy (anything with beef flavor) and have to be careful if I buy mixed cases of this. She has to have the 9 Lives and it has to be the kind with whole peices in it and not the mooshy kind. I don't know what it is wih her, but I just had to keep trying different things until I found the right one. Your kitten may have allergies to certain foods or just a sensitive stomach. Sounds like she's healthy so I wouldn't worry, just try to find her something that will be gentle on her. I wouln't take her to the vet unless you absolutely have to. They will recommend their brand of food and it's not real inexpensive. Sometimes thats all they can eat though. Good luck with her. I think that is absolutely great of you to adopt from the SPCA.

I wouldn't expect the dewormer to still be making her sick three days later, unless it was unsuitable for kittens or the wrong dose - but then the other kitten would be sick too. Maybe the food doesn't suit this particular kitten for some reason - could you try her on something else - perhaps special kitten food (if you're not using that already). If this doesn't work, I think a trip to the vets would be a good idea.

Cats should not go too long without food.. 3 days max.. so if your kittens are eating and vomiting, they are not getting enough nourishment.. It is possible that the food is causing this or the deworming..why not ask your vet.

maybe she doesn't like the food that you gave her. get natural choice complete care Indoor kitten formula.
Wouldn't hurt to call the vet, I'm sure you already have an appointment set up with them or you have already been there since you need to have an appointment within 5 days of getting a new animal.

I read that when they vomit right after eating and it looks just like their food then they are eating too fast. Try giving her smaller amounts slowly and see if that helps. If this doesn't work I would call a vet and ask them when you can bring her in for a check up.

1. its a damned hard question cuz they vomit all the time. ( i personally don't like cats, but love animals so i answer)
But chances are shes overeating. cut down the amount of food your giving that one to about 1/3, or even 1 /2 at a time.

If you are feeding her dry food she could be over eating as the dry food expands in their stomachs and if they over eat will cause them to vomit. Try giving her wet food for a few days and see how she handles that. I hope everything works out.
