I got my cats just about toilet trained. Someone told me they can be taught to flush the toilet. Any ideas.

When I say almost toilet trained, one of my 2 cats sometimes accidently gets poop on the seat. But I think once he gets his balance better, he'll stop

well, using the toilet isn't a natural thing for cats so it's going to take some work.
I could't immagine what life would be like if I toilet trained my cats, my boyfriend takes long enough in the bathroom and then I would have to wait for my 2 cats. We only have 1 bathroom.
I guess you could put catnip on the handle

I don't know how you would teach that. Many years ago I had a friend who's cat started using the toilet on her own and would sit and meow till someone came and flushed the toilet.

Don't think they should be using the toilet unless you can give them a bathroom to themselves. I don't think many of your visitors would relish using the loo when cats' paws have been all over it, whether you can see cat faeces there or not. You would have to disinfect the seat a few times a day I think. Also a cat might hurt itself, if it fell into the bowl.

I guess if you have the patients to get them toilet trained you can probably teach them to flush the toilet if the handle isn't too hard for them to flush.
