She's asserting dominance -- in the words of Cesar Milan, "you are not the leader of your pack".
Both males and females mount to show dominance, regardless of whether they are spayed or neutered. She essentially does not believe that you are the boss. An easy, positive way to end this sort of behavior is to establish your dominance using the "Nothing In Life Is Free" method -- in other words, because you are the boss, she has to work for everthing she gets, whether it's food, toys, affection, etc.
Some websites discussing this method:

Good luck!

As with any "humping" its a type of affection. Also its a boundary thing and by humping the dog leaves a scent advising other dogs to steer clear.

She is showing dominance over you and you should not let that happen, when that happens and another dog comes into the story there will be a problem especially if you will have two females. One will try and be the alpha female, and they will get into a fight, which could be deadly.
Another reason could just be her hormones, if she is spayed then this would be the time she would go into heat.

My female staffie used to hump a lot and yet my male staffie doesn't. God knows what goes on in their little heads!
(btw the female was spayed my male dog is fully intact....even more weird.)
I don't get it either....they're just weird. The dominance thing imo just doesn't fit. My female was the most submissive dog ever...would roll on her back and pee if anyone or any dog came near her (typical submissive traits) and yet she's the one who humped.
The male dog is constantly battling with my husband for place of alpha male, is typically dominant, and yet doesn't hump.....explain that? anyone?
Just plain doggy weirdness.

Mine humps pillows, dirty dog she is. And she's been spayed. Think they must get some gratification out of it.

It is a domination thing rather than a sexual thing. I had a spayed female poodle that used to do the same thing.
