'tick' mark instead of the cross mark in the check box and i want to remove the grey color. Would you plz help?

Deathdealer's solution works, you have to insert the check box from the control toolbox instead of from the Forms toolbar. However, it is not dynamic i.e. you cannot check/uncheck by clicking on the box. It works perfectly in excel, though. Weird...

Go to Check Box Properties , set "VALUE " as TRUE
and "Enabled" TRUE

Check this it should get you what you wanted....
