Btry D 481st AAA Aw Bn was an Army unit during World War 11. What type of unit was it and where can I find a picture of the unit crest and more information about it?

i know it is battery d, 481st AntiAircraft Warfare Battalion. Do not know where to locate a picture of the unit crest. Best bet would probably be to try The American Legion.

A Battery is the Artillery equivalent of a Infantry Company.
AAA = Anti-Aircraft Artillery
AW = Automatic Weapons
BN = Battalion, normally 3 Batteries or Companies.

Battery D is the numerical designator for a particular Battery
481st is the designator for that particular Battalion.

Maybe someone like the US Army Healdry? office would have info on the unit crest. Or try Public Affairs Office.

it stands for battery D four hundred eighty first antiaircraft artillery automatic weapons battalion. it was an anti aircraft unit like the name says. i can only find contact info for you. you might want to contact the person i provided and see if they can give you a unit crest and info. 481st AAA Bn

i found that they were in snetterton heath on april 11 1944 replacing the 455th battalion
