Arvin Praia Arawak ~
Mike doesn't have the commitment to stay in the ring and exchanged blows with someone let alone kicks, elbows and take downs, although I think that he would be more accustomed to very nature of the sport, Mike Tysons days are far behind him. I think the pure speculation of him being there has done for Pride what no twelve promotions have done thus far. Mike Tyson is coming, Mike Tyson is coming!!! It was the same thing when the rumor mill had Tyson doing pornos, remember that one? He was at a party where there was a few porno stars and the next thing you know it's being reported that he's going to be doing pornos. The point of the matter is this....Mike has been to a few Pride and K1 matches "He enjoys the competition and the animalistic nature of the fighters" Mikes done, soon Mike will be broke and soon Mike doing whatever he can for a paycheck.....Sad, sad, sad.

I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I saw the answer that suggested that Tyson will "easily dominate the compitition in PRIDE". Assuming that he ever *gets* into a PRIDE ring to fight--remember that he had a "deal" with K-1 for nearly two years without fighting--we're talking about a man with no groundfighting, submission or even kickboxing experience whatsoever. It would be like the Carolina Panthers' Julius Peppers throwing on ice skates and thinking he'll "dominate" the NHL.

Tyson would literally be destroyed by any of PRIDE's top tier heavyweights. Mirko "Cro Cop" Fillipovic would knock his head off with a high kick that Tyson has no experience defending. Antonio Rodrigo Nogeuira would submit him with some nasty arm bar that Tyson has no experience defending. And of course the *real* baddest man on the planet, Fedor Emelieneko, would give him a ground fighting clinic before submitting him with an armlock. I'm not even sure that Tyson would fare better fighting lighter guys--you want to talk about "infighting": see how Tyson likes eating a bunch of Wanderlei Silva's knees to the head and body.

Basically, I think this is an effort by PRIDE to generate some publicity in the US prior to their first American show in October. Judging from this question, its apparently working ; )

Seriously, I doubt you'll ever see Tyson fighting in PRIDE unless its a de facto exhibition against hand picked opponents. If he never managed to fight in K-1--which is all standup and something he could be competitive in were he to train seriously--I doubt you'll see him seriously doing anything with PRIDE. If he does, he's just a guy who can hit hard trying to compete in a sport he knows nothing about or has any experience in.

In his prime before he got so wacky Tyson was so fun to watch. He had such intensity in his eyes on his way to the ring, it was awesome. The Pride fighting is a whole different level. I don't think Tyson has what it takes for pride fighting. Perhaps 10 years ago he would have had a shot but can't see it happening now.

Boxing is not the besf style out there. Tyson would probably dont got a good ground game. Groung fighting is a boxer's disadvantage. He got nothing but ko power.

There are fighters that excel with styles that focus on fists combinations.
Iron Mike's a tough infighter, he'll easily dominate the competition.

He doesn't have the speed he once have. He doesn't have the legs to fight in Pride.
