I've been hearing lately that Islam teaches that it is their Allah- given mission to kill all people of other or no faiths. That not only do you believe infidels (non-believers) are going to Hell, that it is well within your spiritual rights to send us there.

And if this IS true, do all Muslims realize what they have signed up for?

no..
Islam does not teach to kill people
It’s even forbidden to kill women and children and priests and old people of any religion in a war
Muslims could not go to a war unless it’s a self-defense war

some verses about the place of the Jews and Christians in Islam

"And there are, certainly, among the People of the Book [Jews and Christians], those who believe in God, in the revelation to you, and in the revelation to them, bowing in humility to God: They will not sell the Signs of God for a miserable gain! For them is a reward with their Lord, and God is swift in account. (The Noble Quran, 3:199)"

"Not all of them are alike: Of the People of the Book [Jews and Christians] are a portion that stand (For the right): They rehearse the Signs of God all night long, and they prostrate themselves in adoration. (The Noble Quran, 5:82)"

This is absolutely untrue Islam is a religion which promotes love for all and hatred for none, even if the person is a non-believer.....according to Islam every person is born a Muslim and it is up 2 him what he does with his life and Allah hasn't given anyone the permission 2 kill or even punish an unbeliever furthermore it is considered a sin in Islam 2 even badmouth other religions..... so your suggestion is absolutely outrageous. To really learn about Islam u should refer to the English translation of the Holy Quran or watch Q-TV which will clear any doubts about Islam as u probably know that there r certain ppl in every religion who discredit it and one should not judge everyone by them.........Hope this clears the misunderstanding.

Im a muslim and I can tell u right now that is not true, information like this is found on anti-islamic sites such as prophet of doom which are famous for giving incorrect information and incorrect translations of both the quran and the hadith! Here is what is going on in the world today with the terroists who claim to be in Jihad also known to many non-muslims as "the holy war"!

First of all I would just like to make it clear that the killing of any innocent person regardless of their religon is NOT allowed in Islam, murder and suicide are the 2 unforgiveable sins in islam!
Muslims believe allah will forgive you for any sin you may have comitted if you are truley sorry unless you have killed someone!

jihad is highly misunderstood first of all the whole jihad means holy war statement is untrue jihad is not a holy war for there is no holy war in islam! Jihad simply means struggle! There are two types of Jihad in Islam, the first is jihad with yourself, this is when you fight you're own inner deamons in attempt to better yourself and do right by you're religon islam, the second is the more talked about jihad which people are calling the holy war, this jihad is to only take place as a last resort, basically this takes place when you or you're country are in danger and you have tried you're hardest to put an end to it through the use of words but it has not worked and things carry on getting worse it is then and only then that you can carry out jihad, and even then the rules of the jihad are very stict two of the main rules concerning jihad are you can not hurt civillians in any way at all on purpose the jihad is to be strictly between the soldiers of the fighting countries and two you can not hurt any plants or animals on purpose!

Please understand that these terroists are not Jihad fighters and they are certainly no muslims, not when they refuse to follow all that is tought in Islam!

Just remember Islam comes from the word salam which means Peace which is what the whole religon is based on muslims are not even allowed to go to war unless it is in self defence, and even though as I have already said the rules of jihad are very very strict!

Your statement is not true
Islam teaches, Allah is most Merciful. If you kill somebody even by an accident you have to pay a huge blood money to the relatives of the dead person, this is the Islamic rule.
During the war Islam allowed to kill enemies. But even the war not allowed to kill children, women and old people.

Critics of Islam actually quote this verse out of context. In order to understand the context, we need to read from verse 1 of this surah. It says that there was a peace treaty between the Muslims and the Mushriks (pagans) of Makkah. This treaty was violated by the Mushriks of Makkah. A period of four months was given to the Mushriks of Makkah to make amends. Otherwise war would be declared against them. Verse 5 of Surah Taubah says:

“But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” [Al-Qur’an 9:5]

Example of war between America and Vietnam

We know that America was once at war with Vietnam. Suppose the President of America or the General of the American Army told the American soldiers during the war: “Wherever you find the Vietnamese, kill them”. Today if I say that the American President said, “Wherever you find the Vietnamese, kill them” without giving the context, I will make him sound like a butcher. But if I quote him in context, that he said it during a war, it will sound very logical, as he was trying to boost the morale of the American soldiers during the war.

The Qur’an not only says that a Mushrik seeking asylum during the battle should be granted refuge, but also that he should be escorted to a secure place. In the present international scenario, even a kind, peace-loving army General, during a battle, may let the enemy soldiers go free, if they want peace. But which army General will ever tell his soldiers, that if the enemy soldiers want peace during a battle, don’t just let them go free, but also escort them to a place of security?

This is exactly what Allah (swt) says in the Glorious Qur’an to promote peace in the world.

Islam does not teach that mission of the muslims is to kill all people.

Islam means "Peace".... At the same time in Quran it is mentioned that muslims are obliged to struggle with the enemies of Islam. Every action causes a reaction. Israel opresses palestinians on their territory- Palestinians are reacting back. .. Like every normal person would do.

Muslim people will never start fighting first. It is the reaction back on unfair deeds of others. It is protection and self defence...

Muslims belive that Islam is the only way to God, hence it means that those who are not in Islam are not on the correct way.. It is mentioned in Quran as well. Quran is the main source of islamic teaching.
But it is NOTHING mentioned in Quran that muslims have to kill non- muslims. In opposite to, In Quran it is mentioned that Islam will have many enemies against it , who will hate Islam and will kill muslims..

depends what verses and notall are from quran many of the really nasty ones are from a book thats essentially mohameds sayings [e.g.in the end of days jews(m\b others dont remember) are gonna hide behind rocks and trees which will callout to muslims to kill the infidels]
but thats not really the issue if thats the truth (though some have enough concience to understand it cant be.)
but ingeneral it beats me why anyone would believe in a prophet who, among many such typos, thought that haman(a prime-minister of thepersian empire )lived in the time of the pharohs, whose only witness to his claim was a donkey[and there is reason to believe they were too close for it to be entirely objective],and whose idea of paradise is to have alot of sex forgive meif i assume that god could be a little more creative[besides where does the whole 70virgin thing leave the women i mean i just dont see even the prophet can keep themall happy i mean how bitching much can one guy take, besides even the best bull cant service all the cows well,I mean you got to feel for the poor bigelow well, you see where im taking this.
but, excuse the rant its late and im tired, alot of them cannot be explained away-only ignored(and its easy to as many contradicting verse speak about love) which decent muslims do(even if theyCOULD be explained youd still have to answer why,if the quran is the repository ofall knowledge, why it is so misleading-it doesn't even carry a body of lore or method for interpretation,so one has to assume that it is meant to be taken at more\less face value...)but to be fair christianity has the same prob.s (and also the same problems with innacuracies, contradictions, and out and out stupidity as do most religions)
p.s.I'm not trying to tip any boat-just rock it

When Muslims have the upper hand every human will live in peace and dignity and this is history go and read it.

However non-believers go to Hell by their own choice and no body is going their unjustly. The Creator send his messenger carrying his Books to guide people to the straight path into Paradise and were directed away from the path of Hell but people reject and follow their own desires which led to corruption of the world.

no this is not true. i know they will attach verses of qura'an that says that we have 2 kill non believers, but each one of those verses talks about specific people. Like in sora 5 non believers were those who lived in Mecca and broke their promises and tried to destroy the Islamic culture, so they were given a chance of four months to leave if they wanted to stay they had to pay money which is similar to tax, or they will b killed if they refused to do both, i c it really fare. This is concerning non believers, concerning Jews and Christians, well they were giving their full freedom to do anything in the Islamic country and they even had contracts for trades and so on, so no that's not right for additional info u can contact me as i studied almost every verse about this subject

the verses that are quoted from the qur'an are taken from when the muslims were in a battle. What would expect the verses to say. When you are on the battlefield turn the other cheek and get killed?

Islam does not permitt the killing of innocent people. However in the middle of a war one is not expected to turn the other cheek. Hence Jesus the son Of mary will come back and fight, because it will be appropriate at that time. He will not just stand there and let the anti christ kill him!

No its not true, Muslims have their faith and they have to spread it to other people, if others accept it it is ok, if dont it is ok too. It is your choice. The versus in the quran that say about killing are when the muslims are in a battle field and they defend theirselves.

To the person who said : the whole quran was written during battle"?
No it wasnt, seems that all you know about the quran is those versus about killing, so you think the whole quran was written about that. lol.
Maybe you should get some background before you say such stupid thing.
