I completely agree people use it for the stupidest reasons and half the time dont mean it when they say it

Yes, for some extent.
Most used word on the earth is Love. OK.
But most abused word you may agree is HATE.

I don't know if I would say 'abused' because of the fact that the word is so versatile. For example, I love my wife. I love my children but it is a different type of love. I love God. I love my dog but it is different also. I love spicy foods but it is certainly different than how I feel about my family or my pet. I love my parents...I could go on but you get the idea, it is a very flexible word.

Heh, there's a lot of used and abused words besides love. Many times, poeple don't even really know what the words they're using really means.

It is most used or abused because it is always taken for granted.
It has no dimension/calculations/proof to support itself.
You can believe in it in a moment, if you want... and neglect it for ever, if not...
