It depends. Let's define "jumping off a building because you think you're in the Matrix" as a stupid action. Not that it's actually, fundamentally stupid, unless you can prove otherwise it might actually be true. But for the purposes of the discussion, let's call it stupid. Other examples of stupid actions could be putting your hand into a running garbage disposal ("I thought it would stop"), playing russian roulette ("I didn't think it would fire"), or driving drunk ("I thought I was on the right side of the street").

So... the question as I see it (having now derailed or restated it), is if you perform a stupid action (any of the above) based on firm beliefs that what you're doing makes sense and is right, is it suicide? Or is it being killed because you didn't know critical details?

Not being a christian, I can't give the definitive answer. My guess would be the latter... if you're missing crucial details, perform a stupid action, and the end result is you dead, it was an accident (albeit, a very stupid one). Last I checked, it's intentional suicide that was the do not pass go, go directly to hell deal, I'm pretty sure accidents are ok. As a totally random aside, this makes me wonder a bit about the hypothetical IQ in heaven.

A more interesting question is what happens if you're not sure of your faith. What if you give it fifty-fifty that you're in the Matrix, and jump for it anyway? If you turn out to be wrong, are you going up for stupidity or down for suicide?

Faith is practiced by everyone. Do you ever make plans for the next day, even though it isn't here yet? That's faith that tomorrow will indeed happen. You've seen the next day happen for so long now, your faith in it taking place is second nature.

When you first start out as a Christian, you just have a spark of faith (or hope if you prefer), then as you continue in prayer and Bible study, your faith increases. After a while, you see so many instances where God is in your life, your faith becomes second nature.

The reality of faith in tomorrow or faith in God is a concept that is practiced by millions. Faith in a matrix is Hollywood, strictly entertainment.

I think I can see where you're gonig with this. And its a smart question badly worded.

Yes, it would be the same thing, but like in the matrix, with faith in God, you're just jumping towards heaven without proof your there. Its a concept of blind faith, that you're the one as the world plummets towards you.

Personally, the Matrix is better in a philsophical viewpoint, especially Descartes than religious.

But keep up the thoughtprovoking questions.

Blessings be.

All beliefs are a requires a leap of faith, not unlike jumping off a building, just that you'll never reach the ground.

Matrix and jumping off the building are all imaginations of your fertile mind. Come back to the ground and don't hurt yourself.

My faith in Christianity is nothing like jumping off a building, and you obviously watch too much TV.

Yes , you would go to hell . The only way to heaven in by accepting that Jesus Harold Christ is your messiah because he was born as the true son of god and suffered and died so you may enter heaven through his blood . That is the only way to heaven .
