Reply to BoothG: most people in those days lived to only about 35yrs...very few would have lived to 75yrs of age, the likelihood of any adult alive at the time Jesus was supposed to have lived and died surviving to 70AD is remote, we have no eyewitness accounts concerning Jesus only hearsay. Josephus account is acknowledged as a fake.

Yes, its authentic in every way because the Bible is the Word of God. Written by the prophets inspired by God Himself to chronicle the events.

I'm going to have to guess at what you mean by authentic, but I can tell you this much: parts of it have been verified by archaeological studies, and parts of it have been disproven by archaeological studies. The history of the Bible is quite interesting, and understanding it makes understanding the Bible a lot more (dare I say it?) "fun". The Bible was meant to be interpreted, but about 150 years ago somebody decided to take all of the stories literally - to believe them as exactly as they were told - which is NOT how it was meant to be used, and if you do this, the Bible contradicts itself in numerous places. Even if you don't believe in its contents, you should read it as it is one of the masterpieces of classical literature. If you can try to have it read in the original language and translated into English (the English language didn't come along until almost 1,000 years after the Gospels were written) - then you can hear it in its original language which is quite remarkable as it is almost like time travel. The messages of morality in the Bible are authentic, even if you don't believe in some of the contents - adultery is wrong, stealing is wrong, murder is wrong, etc., so the Bible should be studied, even by non-believers as should the other major religious works.

Hi EarthAngel!! :o) I hope you're OK. As a Christian - I've often been curious as to the authenticity of the Bible. But I tend to believe that IF I am to accept [as I do] that God created the universe and everyone of US - than He is probably also capable of making sure that His Book is authentic. I also tend to believe that the likelihood of ME misinterpreting what I read in the Bible is far more likely than the Bible itself being less than authentic. Craig!! :o)

nope, not at all, what most people don't realize is that it was written centuries after jesus's death, written by the people who killed him, half of it is the same as the koran and the jewish bible, and around 6 centuries later, translated into the bible we know now (the King James version.) It's just like the news: the earlier it's reported, the more accurate it is. The bible we have today went through centuries of hearsay and handed-down lore.

It is authentic and supported historically (it has the most amount of historical documents to support it- dead sea scrolls, etc.), archaeologically, and meets the strictest of literary criticism.
Yes it is the inspired word of God. It is amazing because it is 66 books written at different times by 40 different authors which all declare one story- Jesus Christ!
It tells the truth of people's failures and triumphs when they chose to follow or reject God and i have found it to be authentic and truthful as you live it out.
Hope that helps,
Nickster

Yes because the church says so, and because I trust the church over every other human institution, it's been around over 2000 years, no one has conquered it and no one will because it's of divine origin.
Even unbelieving bible-scholars support the historic authenticity of for ex the gospels.

I have questioned the bible and found it to be authentic. For we are living in a world of darkness, where everything we create is imaginary.
Beauty, fame, wealth, love, joy, sorrow, hate, etc..: all can be taken away, because they are mere illusions of the soul
