Kilz is a brand name of a company that makes primers, sealers, and undercoaters. http://www.kilz.com Most people refer to kilz as a primer which creates a bond between the surface you are using and the paint that you apply above it. Kilz primer can also help with hiding what's underneath (ie rust, dark paint, stains) and painting areas like kitchens that you could clean for weeks and not be able to remove the oil from.

It's a base paint. They have one for 'killing' stains, a base paint for slick surfaces like vinyl, and a BASE paint for DARK/Black paints...you'd need to have the base paint darkened for that, or just basic base-paint for a job I want a good finish on the final coat.
But KILZ is a very PERMANENT base paint. I use it all the time, and I always wear rubber gloves, and am very careful with cleanup. As a matter of fact, if the application of Kilz doesn't matter much, I'll use cheap disposable-type brushes, so I can just let the base paint dry on the brushes, put them in a tied-up plastic bag until they dry hard and then toss them. (It's not water-soluable---it's an OIL-Based paint.).... Come to think of it, I think they are making a water-based...but I personally wouldn't use it...not enough adherence!

It is a primer used to cover walls and ceilings before painting. Very useful if you are going to paint over a dark surface with a lighter paint color.

Kilz is a brand of primer. You put it on before you paint, and it helps waterproof the wall or whatever, cover over greasy spots, and make the paint stick better and more evenly.

A type of paint used to cover smoke, crayon, oil, stains, and anything else. The stuff works great but it is expensive and really stinks.
