Yoghurt is a bacterial fermentation of any sort of milk; curd is the solid matter that results from separating whole milk by the addition of an acid (the liquid being whey). So, yoghurt isn't separated - it's still all of the milk (whole, semi-skimmed, whatever you started with). Curd, on the other hand, isn't fermented, it's not full of bacteria.
