Hi :-) Well done to you for wanting a healthier lifestyle
Ok well the first thing to do is keep working on your parents. Try to get them to buy fruit and veg for you by telling them how much you crave it. Stick to your guns because you know what...you are doing the right thing. Show them you mean it by buying some fruit and veg for yourself (if you have a little cash) 3 or 4 pounds will get you a ton of veg. This might show them that you are serious.
Yeah it cant help being in a small village. To start living a healthier life you don't need to focus on exercise but instead find something to do that you enjoy. I just re-read that and it sounds very patronising, nut what i mean is if you can find an after school club join it! If you find a judo class or karate class in your village hall join it! You will find that just the act of being in a club with others will lead to more things and give you a healthier life.
However, if there really is nothing in or around your village then you may have to start something up of your own accord. You could start a group of your own, craft group, cooking group, dancing club, anything like that.
All I would say is don't give up and accept the lifestyle your parents have. As long as you keep your go getting attitude I think you will find a way through it. Please don't give up

A lot of what people have said here is right, you don't need any fancy diets, just regular exercise (even walking for an hour a day is good to start with) and watching what you eat - not greasy food. Also, get rid of anything in the house you can snack on, all the little things add up.
You say this is your 'last ditch attempt' - bear in mind this is not going to happen in a week, so be patient, and don't give up on yourself. Nothing is more important than feeling comfortable about the way you look because you have to live with that every day.

Hi, it can't be easy trying to sort your diet out if your parents only buy fatty food, especially being only 14, but if you can get any fruit and veg that's a good start. If you can't change the food you eat try to eat less of it.
Of course the best way to lose weight is exercising. Living in a small village means that the best excercise would be a push bike. I live in a small village too and always use my bike to get around (even though I have a car). You'd be amazed how fast you can get from A to B, and how many callories you burn. It's actually quicker for me to cycle to town than to catch the bus.
I wish you the best of luck, and remember at the end of the day, if your resolve is strong enough you'll succeed.
Don't give up.

I'm not taking your parents side but are you sure your weight/size isn't fine? Your bmi is 22.5 which is perfectly healthy. Also, you're still growing and you need to maintain a healthy weight to allow this growth. Also, girls naturally have more body fat than guys - that's genetic. I'm 25 so am not gonna ask for a picture but I'm sure you look great. I work with kids your age and even at 14 lads don't want a stick insect - they want a confident girl with curves. There are some larger girls out there going out with fit blokes because of their confidence and happiness! If you still want to exercise then just walking will burn calories. Or cycling or swimming. The lower the intensity the more you will burn. Sounds confusing but you will burn more fat walking a mile than you will running it. That's fact. However 10 minutes on a treadmill at 6 mph will burn more than 10 minutes at 4 mph. You'd have to do about 15 minutes at 4 mph. There are loads more exercises out there but I'd say feeling good about yourself is much more important, To your well being and to how other people perceive you. Good luck!

Regular excercise. Start easy, just go for 30 minute walks. This is not only good for you, but gives you time to yourself and clears your head. Then just work it up to a gentle jog, and then go for longer distances.
Or buy a bike and go for bike rides. I got into biking a little while ago, and i've lost a stone in just over a month. There's no need to go hell for leather when you first start. Just go at a pace that you're comfortable at.
Of course eating healthy is a big part of it as well. Make sure you eat plenty of veg, steaming it if you can, as this will retain the goodness in them. Have a banana or some fruit for breakfast as early as you can. The earlier you eat in the day, the quicker your metabolism will kick in, and start burning energy.
Also, make sure you drink plenty of water, at least 2 litres a day. This will also fill you, and you wont feel as hungry throughout the day, so you wont snack.
Get into a routine, and stick to it. You'll feel so much better with regular excercise as well..physically and mentally !
Go for it..you can do it !

YOUR height and weight ratio are not bad, but because you are 14, I can see that it might be a problem. I don't know what to tell you if your parents won't buy healther food.
If you refuse to eat the foods they bring home, you could end up pretty hungry.
I just read a book called Gods Diet that I highly recommend that says stay away from all processed foods.. white flour, white rice, pasta, and most other packaged items. Good food costs money though... perhaps you can get a little job somewhere and use the money to buy your own food. If the job is physically demanding, then you will get our exercise too.

Oh how I wish my kids happily ate their Rabbit food without grumbling, and stopped yearning for your type of diet.
Practically, you don't say where you live, but by small village, I assume UK. That said, at 14 you could make an appointment with your doctor, all by yourself, and seek their advice. I think you are less overweight than you believe yourself to be, let the doctor advise you on this though.
If the food issue is because of eating takeaways etc, mcdonalds etc now offer salad options, bit harder at a chippy !. If mum does the cooking at home, at your age offer to cook for them, then you can grill not fry etc. even if it's only once a week. Have you a gran, or auntie that can support you in this? Do you have school dinners, and is a healthy option available?
I reallt do sypathise with you, and admire your determination.
By the way, let mum know you will be seeing the doctor, I do not think you should do it without her knowledge, but I don't think you should let her stop you either.
good luck

Good for you it is hard to lose weight I have battled it all my life.
It is also hard to exercise and be fit when you have no support. Find someone else who is trying to lose weight also and buddy up. Don't tell your parents as they do not seem interested, instead try eating smaller portions and fruits and veggies if possible, but don't cut out the fat entirely your body still needs this to grow normally.
To start exercising first walk a little each day get your body used to physically moving the you can add other things you enjoy .
But the most important is to love yourself the way you are not for how you may one day look, accept you for who you are and then work from there.

hi mysterious ,i think you should question your reasons for wanting to lose weight if its not manipulation by the media IE wanting to look like everyone else the media portrays as ideal, if you truly feel uncomfortable with your weight and find its stopping you doing things in your life you'd like to do IE swimming or cycling or whatever then it is a problem even if others see you as fine, my best advice to you is to eat lots of veg cos they have next to none calories drink lots of water , cut down on the size of your dinners, don't eat takeaways maybe once a month as a treat . You have to love and accept yourself for who you are first, like and accept who you are . I know that's hard sometimes but constant reaffirmation of the positives about your personality and your looks helps. i did a playing card reading for you the other day but it said your email wasn't verified and wouldn't let me send it. Julie ps your old enough to make your own food now so dont accept your mums greasy stuff make your own. you will definetly need to diet to lose the belly but just start by using your stomach muscles daily sit on the edge of a chair and tense them and release do this as many times as you can and after a few weeks you will see defination in your belly region. good luck and best wishes

Run! for as far as you can for as long as you can. And when your sides are starting to hurt, walk. Whenever you think you can't run anymore, just think about why you wrote this question and run a little more. Go home, pass out. You'll be running just a little further each week and that's how you know you're getting somewhere.
Don't mind the diet since your folks seem to be set in their ways. If you run enough, you'll burn all of that off and turn it into toned muscle.
This will work.
Good luck.
