Steps:
1. Begin running at a slow pace.

2. Raise your knees with each step.

3. Land on your heel and push off for the next step with the ball of your foot.

4. Keep your arms relaxed and bent at no less than a 90-degree angle, and swing them gently by your sides with each step.

5. Swing each arm in tandem with the opposing leg.

6. Keep your hands cupped but loose.

7. Breathe easily and deeply and keep your head up.

Tips:
Set a time limit or a distance for your jog.

Intersperse jogging with walking if you get tired.

Jog facing traffic.

Wear proper running shoes when you jog.

Wear light-colored clothing so you're more visible on the road.

Stretch and warm up with a short walk before and after jogging to minimize the chances of injury.

I read an article on this a few years ago. I'm sure you can find something similiar on nikerunning.com, but for now, I'll just recall what I read...you're supposed to roll your foot from the ball of your foot to your toes with each step. It makes a world of difference in how your feet feel afterwoods. Happy Joggings!!!!

You RUN using the ball of your foot out to your toes. You DON'T want to run on the HEELS of your feet.

i think on the whole foot would be more beneficial to your feet, but i dont think it affects the 'calories burned' factor.
