I don't recommend doing this yourself. Even Nick Arrojo consulted a color specialist when trying to lighten dyed black hair and they didn't go all the way to blond.

Going from dark to blonde isn't the best for your hair. Dark to blonde very rarely works out well. You'll end up looking like an orangutan and the up keep is a pain in the rear.

If you bleach you will will need to redye with ash blonde to take away the yellowness.

Anything you colour with afterwards with also fades very quickly. You can go for low lights that lighten hair (as opposed to bleach and dye) but once again the regrowth will be a problem.

My advice, if you just want something different, is to streak, bleach or lighten the middle/lower section of your hair. That way you won't have regrowth problems and if you decide to get rid of it the frizzled hair won't be on top where you can't hide it.

The two tone effect can be amazing with the right layered style cut and contrasting tones.

Do not bleach your hair it will ruin it an you may end up having to get it cut . Instead you should go a tone lighter on what you are already then in three months go one more lighter and you could start getting some copper tones and lowlights on your hair this will lighten the colour after 10 or so months you can get more highlights and start going lighter gradually .This takes time but your hair will be in better condition and you will look great because if you change hair colour dramatically the end product can sometimes turn out trashy.

Seeing that you have dyed your hair already, you have to wait for that to grow out before you bleach you hair. If you bleach it with the color still in it (faded or not) it will turn you hair a different color like green. I know someone this had happened to. If it a rinse then you should be able to bleach once the rinse comes out. As for bleaching hair, my hair is dark brown too and I bleach it once every year. Yes, bleach does damage your hair and make it coarse. You have to take good care of it when you bleach it. I get my hair washed and deep conditioned every 2 weeks and get the ends clipped every 6 months. This helps my hair to stay soft and my ends not to get fried and fizzle. You have to use a leave in conditioner in your hair until the roots start showing. The color will eventually fade but if you use a shampoo especially designed for colored hair, the color should last a long time. Hope this helps.

P.S. You have to take really good care of your hair when it is bleached or you ends will start to split and fall out.

It really depends on how healthy your hair is. If you color your hair frequently I would avoid getting your done. In order to go lighter from Black/Blue you must chemically bleach your hair. That method does take a toll on your hair and if your hair is not healthy, it will dry out, get frizzy or maybe even fall out. Best thing to do is do not color your hair for a while. Allow your natural to grow in, get a trim every month and then procede with the bleaching. The worst products to use on your hair are the commercial products on the market. They contain metallic dyes that just fry the hair. Find a good hairdresser. Spend a few bucks, your hair will luv ya for it!

Its pretty likely you will get 'root glow' this is where your roots are a nice light blonde and the ends go orange, or in your case a blue tinged blonde. I'd wait and let the colour fade as otherwise you will end up with pale blue highlights and severley damaged hair.

If you have a dark/olive complexion, blonde will not really be a great look. if you want to lighten your hair, try some reddish and a few dark blonde streaks and allow your natural hair colour to redevelop- Over processing of hair is bad for it, and you will end up with a head of straw like, dry, brittle and dull hair.

If your hair is already been used to dark colours, it will be a very long and arduous process to strip your hair. Not to mention very, very, VERY (I can't stress this enough) damaging. Your hair will NEVER be the same afterward. It will be dry and hard to manage, very rough, damaged and more susceptible to split ends and breakage. Even if you don't like it and darken your hair again, it'll still retain the damage.

If you must bleach, bleach some streaks, not your whole head. I guarantee, sweetheart, you will REGRET it.

Do not bleach your hair, I used to and it has ruined my hair. You can have highlights put in without bleaching. Go to a hair specialist. Oh and by the way blonde does not make you look cheap, so do not listen to who ever said that.
