sure it is sad to make a permenant decision about children. i'm sure it wasn't completely a walk in the park decision. but if you are happy than that is all that matters. if you are in terrible pain and know that you are truly happy and complete with two children, which is already a handful I know :), then it sounds like the right decision. people are probably just trying to sympathize with you, assuming that you are sad about it because maybe for them it wouldn't be the right decision.

No, you shouldn't feel upset about any choices you make, provided you made the choice for your health based on the best education and information out there. You will never regret an educated decision while taking control of your health.

Having said that, you do understand the removal of the uterus (and/or any other organ) does not cure Endometriosis, right? There is no absolute cure for Endometriosis - not pregnancy, not hysterectomy, not menopause - but there are ways to live well with it. If you do not have all disease thoroughly removed (such as through meticulous excision) in the first place, it absolutely can and does recur post-hyst. Visit the ERC at http://www.endocenter.org to learn about post-hyst Endo, the Aromatase enzyme the implants produce, which is responsible for the disease being self-sustaining, and much more. See also http://www.centerforendo.com for information on surgical excision and why it is the best option for long term relief and resolve of symptoms (remove disease, not organs). Also recommend http://groups.yahoo.com/group/erc for additional info and support. You're not alone. Good luck to you.

If having a hyserectomy is going to relieve you of the pain you have been experiencing, then I would say you shouldn't be upset. I think people say they are sorry because that's what they feel they should say. Even though you are young, you already have your children so if this is what you want then don't worry about what other people say. My sister in law had a hysterectomy when she was 26. She had it for a different reason, but like you she already had her kids and it didn't bother her at all. Good luck to you and I hope it all works out for you.

No one can tell you how you should feel it doesn't matter if you were planning on having more children or not it can still be painful to know that choice is no longer yours to make. Thank god you have 2 babies already. And if you can afford it talk to your doctor about taking some of your eggs out and freezing them and having a surrogate mother carry the baby if you really are wanting a third child. Or there is always adoption. Good Luck with everything

I think the people that say you should be sad do not understand the misery that you've probably gone through. My best friend has endometriosis and she wants a hysterectomy but they won't perform one because she's never had kids. Most people think she's crazy for not wanting kids but to see the pain she's gone through, sometimes its for the best. Especially if you already have 2 children!

You do what you need to do... God has blessed you with two children already and if you truly think that you may want more down the line- ask your doctor to get your eggs frozen and there is always the option for a surrogate. But you have been through enough already and you are a grown woman who is old enough to make her own decisions. I wish you all the luck in the world and my prayers will be with you.

I had a full hysterectomy at age 30 after three children. It will take some recovery time, but you will soon feel a great sense of relief. It does not mean you will be any less desirable, sexual or desiring sex.

no, you shouldn't be upset. people may be just sorry to hear that you have to go through the pain of surgery. I know you are happy have this, but I would say sorry also. Surgery is not easy to go through. I have had a few surgeries.
it is also not easy to have a hysterectomy at your age, your body will start menopause right away and it is not easy to get through. my mom had one in her 20s and said that it was hard to go through that at her age. At least you are not going to have a monthly cycle anymore though. if you are happy, congrats.
