"Truly just curious, I LOVE answering questions about the bible for unbelievers!"
So... why would it be different for other faiths? To be clear, atheism is a faith. A person who truly believes that there are no gods has as many reasons for believing what they do as someone who truly believes in the teachings of Christianity, Judaism, or Islam. Sure, it looks different on the surface, but what does that matter?
Atheists hang out here for the same reason you do... some because they want to spout their beliefs at an uncaring internet, some because they want to feel "better" than answerers who don't share their views, some because they have honest questions about things, and some because they're just killing time.
Why wouldn't atheists spend time here? Or, for that matter, why wouldn't an agnostic who wants to see what others think? The section is for anyone with an interest, not just the people who have a faith, or think they have the one true faith and everyone else must just be joking around or something.

How many times must this question be answered? Maybe I should have my reply macro'd or something.
1: Religious folk frequently have very distorted ideas about atheists. We have to speak up for ourselves because no one else will do it.
2: Certain religions insist on everyone walking in lock step with them. Someone has to stand up to them, and most Christians don't seem to be willing to do it.
3: Religious groups keep trying to get their religion validated through legislation. This must also be fought.
4: I have as much right to be here as anyone else, and the subject interests me.
5: When I run into something I think is wrong, I will comment on it. Whatever forum it is.

As long as the beliefs of religious people will continue to effect my life I will continue to voice my opinions on the subject of religion. I have the right to voice my opinion like everyone else.
The main reason I come to this section is to defend my choice to be an atheist, to correct misconceptions some people have about us atheists and to answer the questions of those who want to understand us better. I also like to learn a bit about other religions in order to understand their followers better. I think mutual understanding between different groups of people is vital in order for us to share this planet with each other and get along.

Christian right here, yet their responses are spot on. you basically want to seem deeper into why they wrote those responses. a million They Hate the comprehensive team (regularly because they became once non secular yet were given dealt with undesirable through their own churchmates or a diverse church, and finally they imagine all religions are an same)- 2 a great number of folk who call themselves christians do no longer fairly obey christ, and most of the atheists are right here wondering that each and each one which call themselves christians are like that. 3 typically basically organic boredom 4 because faith is a fine looking subject matter, a number of them are easily on the part, claiming to be unbelievers yet interior are hoping that someone might want to easily supply them a reaction that could want to wonder them-- kinda like, at the same time as they used to bypass to a church they were too afraid to ask questions, or they did and absolutely everyone else in the church became also insincere with their professed faith and accordingly by no skill afflicted interpreting that stuff and basically dealing with the motions. the different stuff is basically undeniable self delusion (attempting to wrestle adversarial to lack of understanding blah blah, attempting to stay away from the crusades from taking position back- wow it quite is basically undeniable paranoia) 5 there are those who're basically undeniable bullies and also you comprehend that because they could't talk the way they do right here at the same time as it comprises authentic existence conversations, imagine about it, what number of human beings on right here talk so alike and yet you by no skill see them talk that way in authentic existence, humorous adequate i love befriending human beings like those to get them to talk in authentic existence so different human beings can listen the communication. i'm sort of a bully like that, reason i comprehend they could't do authentic existence debates in the front of an impartial crowd.. so in short, they prefer the team on right here because they were given backup, yet they gained't live to inform the tale 1v1 debates in authentic existence specifically adversarial to theologians.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. You cannot judge a person's intellectuality based on their belief in a higher power.
Perhaps they simply want to give you insight into their ways of thinking so that you will understand more than what you know, or are comfortable with.

Note two things.
The issues are too important for religious fanatics to be allowed to spin their cock-eyed theories. Survey the state of the world: George Bush, the Ayatollahs backing Hezbollah, Ehud Olmert, Veluppillai Prabhakaran, the Arms Lobby ... etc. - they're all not just theists, but are inspired by their gods.
Secondly, atheists and agnostics probably think much more and deeper than the aboe named and their even more myopic followers.

I think that aetheists like the sense of intelectual superiority they feel when talking to the xtians on this site . In much the same way that the religious enjoy the feel of spiritual superiority when the heathens start making sense again .

The most likely reason an Atheist would visit this particular forum is probably because they are just as religious in their Atheism as you are in your respective denomination.
And please don't be so quick to generalize. I've met my fair share of Atheists and church-goers alike that were, haha, by far not "intelectual".
