You should avoid heavy lifting exercises that put undue pressure on the spine--wait until you are a fully grown adult before engaging in those activities. However, many weightlifting exercises can be safely done without any adverse affects. You don't generally use heavy weights with trap exercises, so I think you're good to go there.

The reason you shouldn't lift heavy weights that put pressure on unfused joints, especially the spine, is because your bones do not fully fuse until your mid 20's, and crunching them with heavy weights *MAY* have some impact on your stature or posture.

Just go for natural [self weight exercises] like push ups,sit ups etc..Dont go for heavy weights....it will certainly affect your height
