I am not a mean b**cth when a guy wants to talk to me, but I hate to give the "oh, she wants me" impression that so many guys just assume. I need to know if there is something inbetween "She won't like me" and She wants me". What can a girl do to land in the inbetween place? This seemed easier 20 years ago.

your potential man might not be a good signal reader. when your talking face to face with another person your mouth alone is not talking. body language, dress code, gestures.....

the least you can do is look at yourself, is there anything you do that might repel him or confuse him as to what you want.

And you could also observe him and see if hes smart enough to read your signals clearly.

read the 'art of seduction' by Robert greene, its a very good book that describes seduction (in different variations) and the anti seductor.

Being friendly is always your best bet. If someone wants to talk with you, see where it goes. You're not commiting to anything and as long as the guy isn't a complete moron he'll know that. Sometimes you have to put in a little extra effort by starting some conversations or giving someone a smile or wink. As long as you're not acting too flirty, no one will assume you want them without some sure signs.

You know, its their job to be nervous and scared of approaching you. If they are able to get past their own fear of rejection, then they are worthy to date. A real man, a good man doesn't want to be chased. We've all seen guys with girls who are a little fast, my husband made it his life's work to date them, until he wanted to settle down, then he wanted someone he could trust. Someone who's not easily won. Look at it this way, As a woman you are in a position of power in that you get to turn down the ones who aren't suited to you. The ones who can't approach you aren't good enough (even if they may seem to be), because they don't want to work through the challenge of winning you over. So they've already eliminated themselves.

Look directly into his eyes for a 3 count with a very warm smile. Do that a couple of times and it might just work.

There isn't really an in between place. Either a woman seems approachable or not approachable.
