Let's not go there...chivalry is dead! Creativebeloved...you wouldn't want your man to look at porn - but damn - your picture will have most of us men looking at it with some level of sexual admiration.

We are now in an age where men can barely spell chivalry let alone define it. So let me help: 1 : mounted men-at-arms
2 archaic a : martial valor b : knightly skill
3 : gallant or distinguished gentlemen
4 : the system, spirit, or customs of medieval knighthood
5 : the qualities of the ideal knight : chivalrous conduct

ok now that we have defined it....yes the age of chivalry is dead. However this does not mean there are no real gentleman around. I think we live in a society where some things are not taught very well like how to treat a woman. Luckily, I don't have to change my man. I married a man for who he is and if I felt the need to change him I wouldn't have married him.

No, I don't think the age of chivalry is dead. My father is a real gentleman, and he taught my brother to be one, too. And then so is my boyfriend - who comes from a quite different family background.
As to changing your man... The thing is, sometimes you need chvalry less than you need dishes washed or laundry done, and sometimes you need flowers and chockolates less than you need the rent paid. So if you can communicate this to your gentleman without insulting him (and without him taking insult were none was intended), this is all the change you need. Life is all about ballance - a little bit chivalry, and a little bit more practical rational and mundane issues. As long as two people are good friends, any changes can be made.

Ah! You know this is the thing. Chivalry is the traditionally polite, gentlemanly and masterful way in which us chaps have been expected to behave with ladies in days gone by. It is actually the UPSIDE of a system which was inherently role-based and sexist but not necessarily a bad thing. Of course there are some downsides but chivalry is one of the nicer aspects of traditional roles.

So, when feminists and other came along and went beyond just wanting equal legal, economic rights for women but actually starting the whole political correctness thing and making men and women fear each other's natures then one very sad side effect is that men are no longer chivalrous. Women have been trained to feel so suspicious of men's motivations in this independent world that as one other replier mentioned.....we're damned if we do and damned if we don't.

In the end though it is always women who ultimately lose out.

Unfortunately today men are damned if they do and damned if they don;t when it comes to chivalry. Many women see it as an insult if a man opens a door for them and will be rude in return. Personally I like it when men behave like gentlemen towards me and I am always polite in reutrn. Being chivalrous isn't being sexist. My fiance is alway gentlemanl towards me and I really appreciate it!

You can't force anyone to change...that is a major complaint we have is that a gilr wants to change him.

Being a gentlem depends on the girls perspective, and it's hit or miss. For some guys the thought of "why bother" comes to mind.
