breastfeeding is best for many reasons. It provides your child with immunities that last for a lifetime. This improves his/her immune system greatly. It has also shown to imporve congnative development, and lessen the chance of diabetes and obesity for the rest of the life of your child. It is a bonding experience for both mom and baby. It provides a relaxation time for mother when life seems a little crazy. I also help you as mom slim down faster after baby is born. This is because you burn more calories while you are breastfeeding. Breastfeeding also is good for helping your uterus contract to its normal size faster because breastfeeding causes contractions. IThere also have been studies done that have showed that breastfeeding decreases the risks of breast cancer in the mother.
As for the cost. It is far less expensive for you to breastfeed your child than give the baby bottle after bottle of formula. Even if you buy a breastpump and pump your milk at work. The costs is less than half of the cost of formula for the first year of the baby's life.
It is not bad for you to give your baby formula. It does not make you a bad person, but breastfeeding has benefits of a lifetime for both of you.
Positions: make sure you are comfortable. you can sit up and hold the baby to your breast. you can lay down on your side and the baby can lay on his/her side also and feed. This one is great for the middle of the night feedings.

I breast fed my daughter because the antibodies that were in my body are transfered to her through the mothers milk. This keeps her healthy. I held her over my lap and proped her up with me arm.
