Sex is marriage, as defined in Genesis. As far as touching and caressing is concerned, read a modern, accurate translation of The Song of Solomon. Considered the holiest book in the Jewish bible, and one of the most erotic pieces of literature ever written.
It contains the phrase "your navel is a goblet ever full of spiced wine." (Chapter 7, verse 2) This is, obviously, poetical. If you check the actual meaning, your view of the Bible will change forever.

It depends on what you believe in. But if your religion believes sex before marriage is a sin then to touch and caress someone is also a sin because it's kind of life sex or it makes you think of sex making it still wrong.

Depends on your religion - if you follow a religion, and it says that its a sin, then for you it is.
Remember Sins are more to do with performing a wrong against someone rather than against any deity.
Because sex outside marriage may not be the norm for the majority of people in a particular community, they may become offended by your action, and therefore you are guilty of harming them (sinned against them)...

The definition of sin is: whatever is not from faith is sin. Going on that information, anything can be a sin. On the flip side of that coin, anything can be righteous. If you mean you have been fondling each others' genitals, I would think that this is self torture. Getting all aroused and then stopping before climax is going to lead to actions that are specifically against God's expressed will. In other words, you'll wind up involved in pre-marital sex.
The rules are not for God's benefit, they're for ours. If God commands we not engage in pre-marital sex its because the best that He has for us is found in marriage and in marriage, you will have a much better relationship if you do not engage in sexual behavior before hand. For example, if you've managed to remain chaste until the marriage bed, your spouse will know they can trust you far more with extra-marital temptations. The same goes for you in regard to trusting your spouse.

Don't know if it's a sin, but I'm not sure I'd want to put myself into a position of temptation, some things are just better left for the right time!

The bible says mere lustful thought is a sin. We are to be pure in thought and deed, thank God for a learning curve......
So a sexual touch and caress is definitely. I think we can be friendly and affectionate, but you have to be honest with yourself and each other, i think we can tell the difference.

sex before marriage isn't a sin. sex is an important part of any relationship. it's assinine to force two people to never have sex until they're married. what if one of the two is a terrible lover? that will cause problems in the marriage.
stop worrying about what god thinks. He gave you genitals for a reason, so go use them.

The Christian church started the idea that sex was a sin, in order to undermine and destroy Paganism.
The Pagans worshipped women as the 'givers of life' and sex was seen as a very spiritual act.
Christianity, being male dominated, saw Paganism as a threat and set out to destroy it.
Don't get hung up on religious mumbo jumbo, it's what you think that matters, you have to live with yourself.

Well, Lust is on of the Seven Deadly Sins, which means any stirring of sexual desire is a sinful act. However my religion smiles upon sin. So, do what you will.
