Today, I still can't chew because of pain. Is this normal? 2 of the lower 3 teeth that were prepared had to have root canals before preparation for bridge. Will the pain I have now with the temp subside? I was on the chair for 3 hours yesterday. What an ordeal!

Hmm. Maybe the third tooth needs a root canal. Maybe your gums were irritated by the procedure itself. Maybe an edge (or more) of the temporary bridge is a bit long irritating your gums. Maybe the bite is a bit high and needs to be trimmed down. If things don't quiet down over the weekend, get back and have it checked out. If it gets worse instead of better, don't wait until 4:30 on Friday to call your dentist!

There are many possible reasons for you to be having discomfort. If the pain is in the teeth that were treated with root canals this is perfectly normal due to the trauma of just having it done and this will subside shortly. Your temporary bridge may be slightly high also, this means that your opposing teeth are hitting the bridge first before all the others which can be very painful especially with recent root canals. This will have to be corrected by the dentist, and is usually quick and easy. Try to take some Motrin....800mg should be fine. If the pain does not subside within a day or two, call your dentist and speak with them. He or she will probably want to see you again just to make sure all is ok. Good luck!!

The dentist works a lot around your gums so you will have some sort of pain-take motrin for it. Your permanent bridge will also fit a lot better than the temp. The temp is pretty bulky and you are not use to it - give it some time and take the motrin.

It is very normal to feel discomfort in teeth that have a root canal for the first 24-48 hours. If it does not start to feel better by Friday morning, call the dental office and let them know.

I had one placed on my upper 3 teeth, and it was painful. I took 800mg motrin to help relieve the pain.
