The West Contra Costa County Unified District announced that they would stop all funding for sports programs a year or two ago. The media attention built enough awareness and many corporate sponsors volunteered to sponsor the various sports team.
So my answer to you would be to contact all the local media and convince them to do a story about how these kids want to play, but due to lack of funding their season "might end before it starts."

Try companies that depend on alot of marketing strategies for their service like Car dealerships, Real Estate agents, Insurance brokers, Mortgage brokers etc. Their logo on the back of a sports uniform is exposure for their company. Write a letter that can be used to send out in bulk to all the companies in your area. In your letter state the positives that the company will get from this form of advertising. It will show the community that it cares and is involved. It will show potential clients that they are people with a heart and not ruthless salespeople. Get a letter from the sports association that your son's team plays for showing that this is a legitamate proposal and that their company will receive ongoing exposure in the community. Good Luck

Hey!
Same problem arose for me in Scotland, a little village in the Highlands. So i contacted all the businesses in the nearest town, went to see them, dropped leaflets i had made about my son's foot-ball team and i asked them about a donation. I went everywhere including the Council. big companies, little shops, supoermarkets, doctors surgeries, vets, the whole lot! I also asked the local school if they would help out with leting me use the lounge for free for a party (People would pay for their drink) They were only too happy to help. I phoned the local radio and told them about it, did the same with our local papers. I raised enough money, not only for the kids strips but also foot balls and a professional referee agreed to step in and referee their first match for free. They won 4-3 and were on our local papers. I had everyone in the village involved, we all bakes, made little things to sell at a fair and all agreed to go to car boot sales on a regular basis to raise more money. One of us would take a turn, everyone would bring in stuff they wanted to give away, money went for the fund. The school headmistress helped us out and a few businesses kept helping out with funds. We did really well. it was a lot of hard work but it paid! First thing to do though is for you to contact other mums and tell them you need to get together to get something done. Some will help, others won't but those who will rally round will do a lot!
Good luck!

Actually there isn't any this type of company in my eyes which can sponsor you but yes i can suggest you "United Sports USA" which offers football scholarship and almost all types of sports scholarships which can be a great source of help for your football team.

Go knocking on the doors of the local businsses. Put an ad in the business section of your local newspaper, appeal on the local radio station. Get the team to take part in other events to raise their profile.
Good luck.

ten grand? ouch.. what do they need the money for....?
i would suggest canvassing companies that provide the things you need... perhaps ask sports stores if they would like to donate equipment, etc...
i would also suggest trying to find various companies to each contribute a small amount... it might be extraordinarily hard to find one single company willing to give you ten g's

You need to find some companies that want advertising and approach them in person

All you can do is ask. A lot of businesses would be willing because they can use it as a tax deduction.
