well my male cat is 1 year old and I have noticed 3 little black spots on his gums(his gums are pink) I tried to get it off with my finger (so its not food or anything) I was wondering if this is normal or should it be something to worry about??

Totally normal. Those black spots are more commonly called "freckles". Nothing to worry about. And the same freckles are often found on eyelids. Again, nothing to worry about.

Is it on the gums for sure? Because cats can have plaque just like humans can. If it worries you, take him to the vet just to be sure. Or some vet assistants will answer questions over the phone for you. Just call and ask them and if they tell you to bring him in for evalutaion, do so.

It's just pigmentation. All cats have different colored gums and mouths and paw pads. Some are pink with black on them and some are black and I got one cat and his is gray. It varies from cat to cat.

I would call/visit the vet, just to be sure

If you want to prevent future tooth problems, feed him dry cat food (I use Hill's Science Diet Oral Care, with my previous cat only had to get his teeth cleaned twice in 13 years)

you are actually supposed to take your cats in to have their teeth cleaned periodically, but your cat should still be fine. call your vet and ask, tell him about the spots too. did they just appear? could you maybe just not have noticed them before? i don't think they normally do teeth cleaning until the cat is 2-3 years old... i don't remember what my vet told me.
