I think all of society tells both the old people and those who care about them how worthless and bad their lives are. We used to be very respectful and honoring of the elderly and no one pointed out their mistakes or losses of memory or lack of physical prowess out loud so in order to protect their feelings.

what a kinder and better world we had! No wonder they feel depressed and worthless. They worked their whole lives to make things better for all of us and the thanks they get is to be pushed off in a corner and treated like imbeciles! And they remember the respect that their forbears got!

They really aren't useless. If only they serve to make us slow down and be kinder to someone I think it's a very good thing. They provide jobs, travel, many watch the grandchildren, they pass on all the wisdom of a lifetime, stories, genealogies, pray for others, serve at churches and museums and play the piano and organ, tell us to settle down i could go on and on.............

most important is having a good life and knowing God there is no point in trying to live to 100 if after 70 you feel useless. I think its to easy to blaim the state or medical proffetion we have more help now than ever before but love and family are still most important not just being kept alive

Honestly i dont agree with anything u had written so ill opt for option G...As for (A) I knew some1 in the family who was 80yrs old n as healthy as a 20yr old...unfortunately he died in a bus accident so u cant catergorize every1 in the same catergory..some ppl no matter how sick they r live up to be 95yrs old like my grandmother..its just the will to keep fighting..some people dont even live up to be 40yrs when theyve contracted diseases..(B) Uselessness???? My God i cant believe u said that...i suppose parents can call their babies when they r born useless just as well...old ppl r only a burden when u see it as such...otherwise no1 can share experiences as well as they can n provide love like them..(C) Modern is considered to be breaking all values n disrupting families???? Im glad im amongst the old (D) as far as i've seen most ppl turn religious after their 40s...(E) Its strange u say nonadaptability of thinking...coz as far as i've seen...ppl older than 26yrs refuse to adapt to their situation..not just old ppl...

it is the decision to partake in life and to communicate, to share life with others and to help - and - obviously this is diminishing with older people more so as the accumulation of non-survival activities over the years in every life is suppressing the vigor to live.
Clean hands make a happy and longer live - without medication.
AND: there are lots of examples - people with 85 years and older that enjoy life and take part in business and social life daily - that prove this statement.

It's not length of life, it's quality. My father spent the last ten years of his life as a total invalid, in constant pain, waiting to die. There is no why, everyone did all they could, short of killing him. At times, I even considered that. Ask, rather, why is prolonging suffering such a good thing?
