I need help identifying a liquor I tried a couple of years ago. I rarely drink hard liquor, so I'm not sure what it was - I'll try to describe it. It was a medium brown colour (clear), and noticeably thicker than water. It had no taste of grapes or fruit as far as I can tell, and the aftertaste was comparable to caramel and alcohol (obviously). I know it wasn't rum or tequila. Any ideas?

It is most likely a brandy or cognac since caramel is a component in making it

Blended as opposed to grain whiskey - - - or perhaps a weak brandy - - - but I'm certain you've stumbled across good old made in vat from scraps blended whiskey - - -o cheapo but probably effective enough.

I think you are describing Tuaca. It has the most caramel flavor of anything I have had.
