I was at the SeaTac airport today. What the heck is a Cell Phone Lot? I've never heard of them before.

They're a new thing where a waiting area is set up just outside of the airport, usually with an Arrival and Status board and sometimes a lounge. This is so people who are picking up passengers can stop in the lot until the flight arrives and the passenger calls them on their cell, then they can drive over and pick them up at the curb.

It cuts down on traffic in the airport, security issues, and the people don't have to keep driving in a circle indefinitely - espescially if the flight is late.

It's a parking lot that you can pull into and wait for someone arriving at the airport when you have arranged for them to call you on your cell phone when they arrive.

For security and traffic congestion reasons, you're not allowed to wait at the terminal for them and continuously circling the airport wastes a ton of fuel. So you just pull into the cell phone lot and wait for them to call you.

Some have lounges where you can get refreshments and flight status boards so you can track your parties progress in comfort.

a cell phone lot is a group of cell phones for sale together.

ex: Phil is selling a "lot" of cell phones he's selling 17.

Not to be confused with "alot" meaning many. a "lot" can be as little as 2 wich is not "alot".
