The book’s big secret is that the Holy Grail isn’t a cup, but a code, of sorts, for the lineage of Jesus and Mary Magdalene.
Magdalene wasn’t a prostitute, but a close companion and deciple of Jesus. Her real identity was concealed by early church leaders who feared the truth would undermine church teaching
The church perpetuated her image as a whore and buried evidence of Christ’s marriage to her, thereby defusing any potential claims that Christ had a surviving bloodline and was a mortal prophet.”

i think the DaVinci Code didn't necessarily have a message- it is a fictional work made purely for entertainment purposes.
The film was marketed in such a way as to create controversy and skepticism (esp. with the plot of a conspiracy that challenged very foundational truth-- Jesus having a love child with Mary) would definitely discount the truth of Christianity. However, the theory is completely unfounded, without evidence (in fact much of the DaVinci Code is histrocially inaccurate) and i think it was promoted in such a way to create controversy to generate revenue which it was rather successful at doing.
There are many books that you can find that talk about the historical inaccuracies of the DaVinci Code. In terms of Dan Brown being a Christian i had never heard that, but it seems that his agenda was to make money out of creating skepticism of the church and most certainly Christ's character. i don't know any Christian who would say that His Lord has lied all these years and had a love child with Mary which the church was hiding all these years... So i would say you'll know them by their fruits- and that doesn't seem to be an action befitting of one who professes that Jesus is the Lord of His life.
Hope that helps,
Nickster

It is a super story line and we do not whether the content is true or false - but this again re-itterates that a persons life not a history of the species (Human here) cannot be said in a book of few pages without a lot of confusion added to it. I am talking about the Bible who has confused millions of people around the world - that is the reason that all kind of stories are made around it. However, full marks for Dan Brown for research work and a wonderful book !

The message is that interesting stories about things people feel strongly about make a crap-load of money in both book and movie form.

I don't think he is trying to convey a Christian message. When questioned he says it's just a work of fiction for entertainment.

I have not seen that movie ..but. have heard that Christians have a lot of objections on it. I think nobody should be allowed to hurt the feelings of others .. especially in religion.

ITS FICTION. he never claims that this is true! the movie was a fictional drama that was exciting and interesting. i dont get why everyone is up in arms in this. passion of the christ was just as fictional but barely half as many people are up in arms about that.
