Why do people take love as if it is a game and do not take it as one which is a serious affair involving both hearts and one that would last long?

Good questions.

Now a days people take it as granted. They take it as hobby.People go for blind dating without knowing who is it.Now the seriousness is gone. They chnge people every week & day for fun.It is very difficult to find true love. When true love is broken the pain & he sweet memories remain even the person lives miles apart.

This may sound a bit harsh (and I apologize if it does), but I think that it's because people now days live on the belief that true love doesn't exist, and if you think it does, your treated as if you have low intelligence. People today believe that in order to have true control in their lives and be smart about relationships, they must be strong individuals who don't need anyone and can survive on there own without anyone, and they see themselves only as completely seperate beings from the one they say they love.

I think this is more so today because of the change of societies ideas of what love and relationships are suppose to be about. That change, I think, happened because of the womans movement that challenged traditional beliefs of how society and humanity is suppose to be. Also, because of the high divorce rate in celebraties and regular people, many are convinced thats evidence that true love and a real wroking marriage doesn't work or exist. And the people who say they are happily married, are suppositly in denial and are really in a failing marriage. That is true for some marriages, but definilty not all.

And I think that since the majority of people concentrate more on the negative aspects in life, the media adds to the fuel, making it easier to only see the bad and learn how to protect from the bad things in life (like from being emotionally or finacially hurt in the game of love). In the end, people protect themselves so much from it, that they leave no room for the positives that exist, and a complete happy, smart life.

I think over all it's because we live in a very emotionally fragile, easily offended culture where people are always on the defensive, always on the guard and forgetting the things that naturally make human beings happy. It's just what I think, take what I say with a grain of salt.

i guss there is a variety of factors - society changing, peole more educated, tolerance level reduced, lazy to work out their differences. I actually have quite a pessistmic outlook on marriage and love. I don;t think there is such a thing as true love anymore and marriages may not last forever. Which is kind of sad coz i'm getting married soon.

Amen to that brother. They do say that Romance is dead, and love seems to have no value anymore. Its Sad. But maybe we've been brainwashed by the way love is depicted in these epic tales, books and movies. Maybe it really, truly isn't like that. And we'd just like it to be. But that is how it should be.
