My cat is 16 months old. He is a great cat doesn't give me much trouble except the occasional fight with our other cat 11 months old. We have never in the past had a problem with him using the litter box and we have gotten nothing new in the plce where the litter box is kept, but suddenly, when we are not around he has been leaving us"presents" on the floor, right next to the litter box.if we are there near him he will us ethe box just fine. We tried changing his litter, we tried giving him more attention, less attention, no matter what we do he keeps it up. My next step is probaly the vet, I can't figure it out!

My 2 year old pixie bob did the same thing when I brought another cat home from the animal shelter. I just got another litterbox and put it right next to the other one and she quit. I guess they just had to have separate toilets lol try it!

Well, I had a cat with the similar problem, what I did was since the cat seems to only do it when your not around, try putting something in the litter box that has your scent on it. It worked for me.

Maybe he doesn't want to share a litter box anymore with the other kitten since they have been getting into fights. I would get another litter box and also a vet checkup is a good idea.

You may want to try getting another litter box, there is a rule about multi cat houses, you should have one litter box per cat plus one if you can, sometimes they either dont like to share or they prefer to use one box for pooing & one for peeing.....he of course goes in the box when your there because he knows he's not supposed to go outside of the box, so Id try getting him his own box & see if that works....GOOD LUCK
