Yeah. Right. Good one, Charles!
Well if you're looking to redeem yourself, you've come to the right person. Why don't you take out those you've worked for. Or, use your hitman skills to take out bad people. Or...become a hitman-priest! Like that dude in King of the Hill: "Valla con Dios."

Becoming a priest is not an option in order to attain atonement for what you have done.
If not much people know the kind of job you are into, then doing good deeds silently for others might help you have peace of mind.
You need not be a priest in order to gain forgiveness from God. He is good enough to let you live this long, and make you realize what you have done.
Therefore, He is all the more good enough to give you this kind of realization and allow you to make up for the wrong doings you've made before.
If it will appease you, and if you happen to be a Catholic, a trip to confession room will temporarily relieve you of your worries. Letting a priest know of your dilemma will help you cope with your thoughts now.
Otherwise, you could also do soul searching by going to a place memorable for you, somewhere where you will feel silence and presence with God. It is only this way that you will be able to communicate with the Big Guy above.
Everyone deserves a second chance, so do you. There are saints that have done bad things but they have still gained sainthood because they were able to reverse their fate by doing good for others. And without expecting anything in return.
Do an act of goodness for others with complete silence. Other people need not see the good things you are doing for others so you could have peace of mind. Let God solely enjoy the sight of you doing good for others. What you will do might not matter to other humans, but it surely will for the Good Lord.

If there is nothing you can do to the families of all those whom you have killed, do not worry. Everybody has to die someday and think that you have been carrying out God's duties. Forget your past and ensure that no violence is taking place near you. If you have a successor hitman, try to influence him, threaten him to change him. Spread the word about peace within the little confines of your reach.

No it won't help because you cannot undo the past.

Take out one (of your own) tooth for each person you killed.
With a rusty spoon.
