Yeah, definitely. We atheists eat people. Not just people mind you, but babies in particular. Even better are aborted fetuses; they're fantastic with steak sauce.
We have these big atheist get-togethers, where all the atheists in the town are invited, and we barbique some fresh babies and fetuses (and maybe an old person or two - the meat is very tender). Afterwards, we have a giant orgy while bathing in the blood of virgins.
'Cause morality is based in religion, after all, so clearly we atheists are depraved lunatics.

If food got scarce enough I'd be nibbling on my neighbors. Otherwise, eating people is illogical. Since people are capable of reason they are capable of becoming an asset. Plus, not eating people is less about religion and more about society. Nobody wants to live by someone that's liable to go Hannibal on you at any given moment.

Hmm, hasn't cannibalism and human sacrifice been used in some religions before?
And in some way eating the body of Christ and drinking his blood seems a little along those cannibalistic lines, at least in concept.

Nonreligious reasons not to eat another human:
1. Communicable diseases
2. Highly illegal to commit murder - murder actively investigated
3. Very messy. Extensive precautions needed to dispose of evidence
4. Humans probably taste really awful because of they eat anything and everything
5. Other humans tend to get very excited and hostile when they find you eating a friend or relative of theirs. They carry grudges indefinitely over it, too.
I had a number 6, intended to add a little humor, but I forgot it. Oh, well, next time.

*lol* That was an answer to my question. Maybe she was responding to me saying that some people think that, without religion, we'd all go around eating babies. I just used "eating babies" because it was the most depraived thing I could think of and illustrated my point best.

quite the opposite: many cannibalistic tribes were in fact eating others because of religious beliefs. After sacrifying their captured to some god, they would eat them. They thought the soul and power of the person they would eat would give them strenght.

I don't know how that follows. We aren't the ones eating "the flesh of Christ", and drinking "the Blood of Christ".
