That is so sad! I did a quick search on the internet for "dalmation rash problem" and several sights came up. Most of them recommended taking him to a vet. I put the link to one site below, it's kind of a book online about dalmations, so just do a search for "rash" on the page, and it'll take you to the spot. It sounds like it's likely fleas or food allergies, and the article kind of goes into that. If you live near any pet store, they should be able to give you some good advice and have medicine or some sort of treatment to buy. Petsmart and Petco are particulary good. I really hope he gets better soon, poor dog! It's so sad when a dog is suffering, almost more sad than when a human is, because the dog can't directly tell you what's wrong! Good luck.

Take your dog to the vet asap for a non emergency visit. Anything could be causing the rash. Call a local animal shelter and see if there is a low cost vet clinic near you if money is a problem. In the mean time I guess you could try a spray with hydrocortozone (an anti-itch medicine) in it. I just bought some for my dogs at Petsmart and it seemed to work on their flea bites.
Ask someone who works there what product would work best for your dog. Good luck and I hope it's nothing serious.

It could be a number of things:
Fleas: wheither you see them or not 1 flea bite for a dog that has flea allergy dermititis (allergic to flea bites) can be very irritating. Frontline is a great flea medication.
Skin infection: This could be due to a number of things like the flea allergy (secondary) or it could be due to allergens in the air or in the food (also secondary). The doctor may put him on some antibiotics to help clear this up.
someone had mentioned mange and this is typically not a sign of mange, but if he has hair loss and itchy then that COULD be a sign of mange.
You had mentioned that money was an issue for you. Call and see if there are any low cost clinics in your area or see if you can make payments with your vet. There is also a program out in the vet offices called CareCredit. This is basically a credit card that you can only use in the clinics. See if they have something like that for you.
Hopefully this has helped and good luck

It could be a number of things. Mange is one of them. Is he/she losing hair where the rash is? Mange is a very small bug thats usually found in the ears but can be found anywhere on their body. Or it could be allergic to something. Why dont you just take your dog to another vet where you dont have a bill. Schedule an appointment and after the dog is seen ask about payment arrangements.

My dog suddenly had allergies and his belly was red and his paw from all the licking the vet said. So why not try benedryl that is what my vet tells me to give to my dog. My dog is 60 lbs and gets 2-3 pill twice a day I don't know what the recommended dose for your dog is but start with one and go from there.

it may be of fleas or the shampoo he has been groomed with. give hiim a bath with just water. bathe him, and don't put on any flea sprays. I could be totally wrong on this, as i haven't heard much about these cases. try using some tea tree oil in a soft shampoo next bath following, that will mos probably help out some.

my dog had the same thing...it was the fleas. I just washed him around the rash area and it cleared. if that doesn't work, they'll probably have a special shampoo at a pet store.

it could be a genetic skin condition, poison ivy, etc.

you really should see a vet if it doesnt get any better soon, since either way your dog is in real pain.
