The Soviet Union outlawed religion and benefited for awhile from the forced atheist point of view. Were they also pro-evolution? The ACLU tries to sue everytime someone tries to mention creation in a school or even utters the word God in public. Don't they get money for that? The Churches collect money from pro-creationists to pay for soup kitchens, hospitals, shelters and counseling centers, so I guess you can say the poor and the sick benefit from that.

What's your point?

Well, religion is the age-old empire builder. Make your citizens fear a god to force them to behave and set yourself up as their protector. In that sense the government benefits - they become indispensable to their people. It can also unify military forces. "We fight for (insert god's name here)!" Darwin's studies, however, caused him to doubt the Bible and it did him no good. His studies showed Earth to be much older than the Bible said it was and that man evolved - rather than being created out of nothing in an instant. Because of Darwin's growing lack of faith in Christianity, he was looked down upon by society and called a nihilist. So it seems that believing in evolution is not beneficial and may even be counter productive while the governing body of an empire, area, or civilization would and did benefit greatly from the creationist theory.

Beliving evolution has helped us grow better foods, make better medicine, and gives us a more accurate understanding of prehistory.

Creationism helps us have faith.

Kent Hovind's challange was met. He refused to fork over the money. He is now in jail for something else.

If you believe in evolution, you can THEORETICALLY learn about biogenetics and be able to synthesize entirely new beings by understanding the process. If you believe in creationism, it reinforces Christianity as a doctrine people believe, which supports political movements such as pro life.

I am all about evolution because it pisses off the weak minded oppressors, christians. Someday we will evolve and the christians will either die off, or become a inferior species and be relegated to the wild.

Want me to show you the money? Okay!
Kent Hovind has a standing offer of $250,000 to anyone who can give any empirical evidence (scientific proof) for evolution.
If you think you are man enough, try!
