I bet it is an adoption birth certificate. My second husband adopted my daughter, and when it was final the judge said this will be as though your first husband never existed and your second husband was present at the time of your daughter's birth. That is just how it looks, too.
If your parents are so reluctant to cooperate with you, what about other relatives who may view it differently than they do?
Also, just try typing any name that has anything to do with the subject that you know of into the WEB SEARCH on your computer screen. Type in your name first.Separately - your mom's name, dad's name, hospital name, courthouse records for 1957, then for 1960, just every combination of stuff you can think of. There is so much information available to us on the web search and I don't think half of the people who use a computer are aware of what is there for them! I am sure you can get a clue.
But take it easy on your parents, they have a reason for being like they are, and they love you, so be kind to them. Good luck!

Contact your State's Dept. of Vital Records. Michigan charges $36 for the first copy. They charge $8.50 for shipping. You can do it online. Here:

That'll get you a copy of your certificate. As for the DNA test, yes, you could steal hair off a comb or something, but you do know that's illegal, yes? To do a DNA on someone who didn't give consent? Bad, bad. If they won't cooperate if your certificate from the State is odd, you can use any blood relation for DNA. Surely someone should be willing. But any blood relation will show DNA markers in common. The more markers, the closer the relation. They'll be able to tell you if you are related to that person. If you are, then your parents are just weird. If you are not, confront your parents, because they should not be lying about this at this late date, anyway.

If you have money, you can have their DNA tested from things such as toothbrushes, hairbrushes, etc.

This could be really important if you need medical information after they are dead. If nothing else, please have their DNA tested upon their death.

Talk to them again and explain that they are doing you no favors to lie to you. Tell them you will love them no matter what, and they will always be your parent no matter what, but it will be best for your sanity and peace of mind to know the truth.

Birth records are NEVER destroyed. Some states now allow you access to your birth records. Check your state laws and go to court if necessary.

You must be correct or the Catholic hospital would not have lied to you.

Sign up for a birth registry. Your birth parents could be searching for you.

Actually they can and most hospitals do purge their records after a certain amount of time. It's perfectly legal. Go to the health dept. in the county you were born in and get a certified copy of your birth certificate. Now they aren't allowed to destroy them because they are government documents.
It doesn't matter what hospital you were born in it had to be recorded at the health department. That's the law.

Hey adopted1960,

You have the right to know about your birth, and birth parents. Your adoptive parents raised you, and your love for them should never change, biological or not. I would tell my parents that I would assume they are adoptive unless you have the proof, because it does sound like it matters to you.

Do you know their blood types and yours. That could help answer the questions. See the web site below for the combinations.

I would write to the state for my own VITAL RECORD.

If you were adopted or not, why would your weight and time prove that right or wrong? Who cares, as long as your parents love you.
The reason they most likely won't do a DNA test is they know they are your parents, they think you are being silly, and they don't want to pay $1000 to have it done!
Think about it before freaking out!

That birth certificate does sound very strange. What prompted you to look into this anyway? If you are adopted, what is it that you want to find out beyond that? Your parents are your parents whether it is by birth or selection. Either way just know that you are blessed and be happy with that.

I understand how important this is to you, u need to know! Do whatever you can to get a DNA test or push to know. It sounds like they are not being open enough. Your identity lies in where you come from, Its important and you wont be happy till you know.

Since you dont trust your parents you must steal their dna to expose them as liars. Its the right thing to do.
