Just found out about the web site www.myevent.com, as someone I know has their life's history laid out there, along with that of their fiance's. They are getting married in the near future and no detail is intimate for them to share. The site goes into great detail featuring their engagement, proposal, endless photos, biographies, and a vast amount of details that really seem like WAY TOO much information. Also, people have been told they have to check back periodically on the site to keep up on updates for the couple and wedding upcomign wedding details, parties, receptions, etc. Is this some new way of doing things for the younger set? I haven't got time to check back every week and the whole thing seems very self-centered. I don't need to know every word of the proposal, how she reacted, how God Is guiding them onward, why they are choosing to get married in an off beat locale, where they are registered, and other endless details.

Yes, it does seem that a lot of couples are going in for revealing every intimate detail of their lives together. Personally, I don't understand the need to share that kind of information. And, yes, I agree that it is self-centered. It's incredibly egotistical and self-absorbed to think that there are people out there hanging on your every word, eagerly anticipating the next installment of your personal life.

Hi,

Yes, this is the newest way to communicate (although I do believe your friends are taking it way too far).
It's growing in popularity, but it is meant to give everyone updates on what is happening with the wedding plans, where partys will be, wedding themes, where the couple are registered etc. It's also perfectly okay to showcase pics of the couples engagment and a story on how they met, as well as their plans for the future. It should not be too long winded nor should it be too personal. If it is done tastefully, family and guests usually love it, especially guests who live far away as it gives them the feeling that they aren't completely left out.
