Sometimes i just abruptly go into depression without any reason. I feel like crying and with no will to live. It doesnt happen very often - maybe once every 6 months or so. Any one know any possibilities why this happens to me? Thanks.

Everyone feels depressed once in a while. Once every 6 months sounds like a great track record! But if you are having thoughts of harming yourself, then you should seek help for it immediately. Mental illnesses (depression included) really start to show up in most people during their early twenties. You should at least record when these moods occur so that you can see if any patterns develop.

Something tucked away deeply in your mind is troubling you. You need to view life with happiness. find anything that turns your day better. Turn otheres day into happiness. Do it for others, and ask nothing or expect nothing in return, and your life will get brighter. Also, something you might have put deep away, and wont face the issue, could make you like this. Talk about life to someone, just releasing the tension can take a ton of weight off. And then the last thing, could be a chemical imbalance. Which is easily treated. You doc can give you a mild antidepressant which nowdays work with your brains capacity to release your "happy" feelings. Lexapro is one that has very rare side effects and you cannot tell your even on anyting, but it brings you to a mellow happy state of mind. And able to deal with lifes hard decisions. Try the small things, if you need more help talk to the doc, to get you set up on something.

Only you can answer that. Most depression lasts a lot longer than what you are describing. Usually 2-3 weeks at a time anyway.

There is something in your life that you are not satisfied with, most definitely. You should take some time and sit down and think over what's going on in your life, and try to come up with some solutions to it or find some better ways to cope..

I agree ...I don't think it's depression...as in D-E-P-R-E-S-S-I-O-N. This word is used so lightly. It's a sadness that won't go away even after crying your heart out.
What you are describing seems more like how I used to feel when I was your age. I felt exactly like that at times. I think it has to do with being in the years of puberty (your body is changing....inside and out).
This is what I used to do whenever I felt like that. I would close my door...then I would face myself in the mirror...and cry to myself like someone died...it always had a cleansing effect on me. Afterwards I felt just fine.

It sounds like you repress these feelings, and eventually they bubble up to the surface. Share this with your dr. -- he may recommend talking to a therapist or maybe even drug therapy.
