Before I get critisized, I don't know why I got my tongue pierced. I guess trying to be rebellious, who knows. No, it didn't hurt. Was it stupid? I don't regret it, maybe I'll feel different down the road, I'm not sure. We'll find out. :)
Now that I have that out of my system.. LOL
If anyone has past tongue piercing experience, I got my tongue pierced a week ago today. I see where the scar tissue is forming around it and my tongue is sort of white because I went a little crazy on the mouthwash (which I have cut down on considerably) but down the center of my tongue and ending at where the scar tissue is, there is a light red line. My tongue is no longer swollen and it doesn't hurt. I was just wondering if the red line is a sign of infection or just normal for a tongue piercing? Thanks in advance. :)

I don't remember a red line either time I had my tongue pierced. It's unlikely to be an infection without some other sign but I would keep an eye on it. It may just be from all the mouthwash.

I had my tongue pierced. It took me 3 hours to eat a wendys frosty lol. but anyways u will get and indent in your tongue where the balls sets. red line? i didnt have one, But i used mouthwash for a week straight. any thing that entered my mouth other than H20 was rinsed out with the yellow listerine. Dont use the blue kind, it will turn ur tongue green and to some people who just got their tongue pierced it can hurt to brush off. Dont worry about going crazy on the mouthwash that wont hurt it at all. I dont think you have an infection.. maybe from where the bar has been settin? I Love my tongue ring.ive had it for 3 or 4 months. im going to keep it lol. unless u have a greenish slime like puss come from the wound i think u will be iight.. lol

I've had my tongue pierced twice. I had to take it out for work the first time, and missed it deperately. Anyway, the red line you see, is sort of like a part in your hair. Your taste buds either go left or right. Everyone has it, but they don't generally pay that much attention to their tongues. Use the mouth wash sparingly now that you've had the piercing for a week. Make sure you brush your tongue when you're brushing your teeth, that'll help the white look go away. Enjoy it!

I don't know why I pierced my tongue either but I let it close up after a year. I know a lot of people with tongue rings and I have never heard of that happening. You might want to get that checked if the line travels further. Keep a close eye on it. Good luck.

the scar tissue is normal i had it it will fall off eventually....as for the red line...it could be a vein on your tounge maybe that you didnt notice til you got it pierced cuz im sure youre looking at your tounge alot more now......my only othe idea of the red line would be like blood poisening. my dad had it and he had a red line going up the back of his leg but thats his leg not his tounge. why dont you go back to the place you got it pirced at and ask them if they have any clue.

It is normal I have had my tounge pierced for 10 years. Don't worry that will eventually go away too. The scar tissue will go away to or fall away. Just keep rinsing with anticeptic regularly.

Try and consult your doctor and/or the person who pierced your tongue. Oh yeah, don't forget to ask about some of your friends if they had their tongue pierced. I've got a few older friends who did it and they told me all about it. So trust me.

I don't like to diagnose without even seeing a picture so I'm going to stick with It's probably nothing however to be sure go back to your piercer and have them look at it .
