Well, I think considering you were put on the spot it's a good cover story. Details sell stories after all. At any rate, either your mom will beleive you, not beleive you, or CHOOSE to beleive you, which is why a lot of times when the truth is stretched a person can get away with it.
Yeah, it'd be pretty humiliating for someone to find anything relating to my own handiness. Luckily nothing I have has been found yet.

If you are carrying it in your purse it should be in some kind of protective cover or little bag for sanitary reasons. Your Mom caught you in a tough spot. I'm sure she didn't ask you to embarrass you so she probably does not have an understanding of why you would want or need such a thing. You probably did the right thing by telling a little white lie to protect her feelings. That was kind of an act of kindness on your part. Your Mom doesn't need to know your sexual behaviors and probably cannot imagine her daughter doing something like that.
If she asked you what it is then she really is clueless and basically innocent. I'm sure she was just concerned. Good job on sparing her feelings. If my parents found something like that in my room I would be very embarrassed and I would hope to come up with a story something like yours.

No way in hell did she believe you, you should have explained to her the truth , or atleast a version of the truth that suits you both, let her know that it was yours and you lied to her simply because you were embarresed by the question, then heres where the version that suits you both comes in; mention to her that you prefer that method of self gratification because you prefer not to risk either catching an STD or getting pregnant at such a young age, especially with the care-free sexual attitude of many of the young men and women of today, she will respect your honesty and appreciate you for being so careful.

You should have just told the truth. Your mama already knows the truth but she wanted to confront you. Now she has seen that you still are cowardly and not fully mature. If you are an adult you should have enough integrity and courage to stand up to your mother and tell her the truth. You need not act like a child. If you keep acting like a immature little girl then your mom will always treat you as one.

Yeah, but not half as embarrassing as explaining why you lied to her. If you are an adult, you really don't have to explain anything.
How about " Oh, that's mine. I forgot to put it up" and end the conversation there. Or, "C'mon mom, some things are personal"
Lying is not a good option.

I think you handled it very well. Your mother probably doesn't believe a word of it but that's not the point. You were polite enough to give her an explanation she could live with and forestalled further questions that would have led to an argument. Everybody's happy.

Quite frankly your Mom should have said nothing .
If you are of age then it is your personal business.
It was your bedroom not hers.
While packing my daughters house for moving I found things and just packed them .
Hers and her husbands private business not mine.
Just told them where I packed them .
No need for further comment on my part

you have to understand that at one point, you parents have been where you are. your mom has been your age once and probably done stuff that she wouldnt tell you. if she doenst bring it up or just swept what you said under the rug. chances are she didnt believe you, but understands that it would be embarrassing for you.
