Yes. They break up water molecules on the ionic levels and smooths the cuticle of your hair shaft instead of just applying heat. Not only are you drying your hair, your smoothing it. The less heat the better, and an ionic dryer cuts down the time that you expose your hair to heat. And if you mix a leave in conditioner with your ionic hairdryer, you will smooth your cuticle, and the leave in conditioner will penetrate your hair shaft easier. I love mine!

I haven't ever noticed any difference, between an ionic hairdryer and any other. The best hairdryer upgrade I ever made was to
a quieter one.

I bought one about 6 months ago because it promised softer hair, no flyaways, no static. Honestly, I can't find any difference between an ionic one and a regular....except the price of course. I've been duped once again by the glossy advertising and glamor..LOL.

Advertising gimmick, all dryers are judged according to wattage and force output.

i would say yes... it makes your hair shinnier and keeps it healthier something about the makeup of the hair and how it dries it. im no pro, but i have a ceramic chi dryer and its great!
