I've had one...no it does not hurt at all but please go to a very good dentist as it's essential that it's done well so as not to crack ur other teeth and to make sure the infection does not reappear...!

It did not hurt at all. It is just one of those uncomfortable dental procedures like getting your cavities filled.
But if your doctor is willing to give you a prescription for something like codeine/tylenol, get it filled and store it in a safe place for when you do something dumb like step on a cactus.
The root canal did not cure my root infection and I had to have an endodontist trim the end of that root. Giving birth was equally painful.

I have many years back. Its no picnic thats for sure. The thing that will hurt the most is probably when the dentist injects the stuff into your gums to numb them while he operates. Then its just a lot of him tugging and poking and drilling at your teeth a lot. Does not hurt much then because they are numb from anesthesia, but your jaw will be numb from it for a few hours after you leave the dentist office and you won't be able to taste anything for a while. At least this was my experience. Hope this helps.

9 out of 10 root canals are no problem. Like teenagers, we only hear about the bad ones.

No shouldn't hurt at all. Just takes a long time as the Dr has to make sure he gets all the nerve out of the tooth root.

I have had 3, all by different dentists. 2 of the dentists, the pain was minimal. One the pain was awful. He was a bad dentist. I walked out of his office about 3 months later in the middle of a cleaning.
If you find a good dentist, no reason to be scared.

I just had one 3 days ago. I had a very bad infection in my bottom molar and it took 6 dental visits just to get the tooth numb due to the severe swelling. After it was numb, I didnt feel a thing! Now im fine! Good luck to you!

This is gonna hurt alot.
It depends on weather your tooth is on the top or bottom of your mouth to the amount of pain and discomfort you will feel.
The dentist will have pain medication (needles) and you will need a few of them. It will still hurt. They have to drill away the inside of you tooth.and you can feel it happening...It's pretty gross.
You may need a out script for some Panadine Forte..ask your dentist.

be sure to get knocked out or tons of laughing gas. I had one not to long ago and the dentist is worse than satan to me. They fed me some type of fun pill they made me not care. GO THAT ROUTE! It doesn't hurt that way.
good luck with that
